Aluminum intake install?

I'm going to install an Edlebrock performer intake on my 383. Do I need to use paper gaskets along with the valley pan? Or can I just use a new valley pan?

Just the valley tray with good rtv for 99.9% of installs

Get the FelPro 1214 kit.  It has the heat cross over block to help keep the intake/carb/fuel cool.  https://www.summitracing.com/parts/fel-1214/overview/

I put on black rtv underneath to make sure it seals correctly.

Will this have any impact on the choke? Temp style choke.

Yup. Wont work right. Aside from the crossover blocked off, aluminum heats and cools different then cast iron. Tune the carb properly and you wont need a choke.

I never needed a choke on a big block. 
Small blocks are a different story.

Ok I'm in.... "Never needed a choke on a big block"....

How can I adjust my carb that I do not need a choke?

Without manual choke if engine is cold I will have to stay with my foot on the pedal until the engine warmed up...

Have a 4160 1850-9 holley carb, sec vac, manual choke installed.

Its also going to depend where you live....in the cold damp winter of England or worse still Scotland its just not going to start in the winter without at least a little choke....unless you have it running horribly rich to start with........I'm guessing it might be a little different in Arizona in summer!

Mine would start as cold as 25° f with no choke and no problem. Little throttle (1800rpm) for about 60 seconds, after that it would idle on its own at 1300.

I live in central Europe and I will use my Mopar only in Summertime when the weather is nice and the temperature is around 68 to 86°F

Now it makes sense if you say a "little" throttle is 1800 RPM :-)

My Fast Idle Cam is set to 1200 RPM and Curb Idle is 800-850 RPM.... 

So I am also pretty sure if I set my carb to 1800 fast idle and curb idle to 1300 that it will not stall

I thought you are running without choke with a fast idle around 1000-1200 RPM or so....

Or do you mean with little throttle that after firing it up to put your foot on the pedal for around 60 seconds.... I would guess that instead of setting the fast idle cam to 1800 rpm right?

I dont have a fast idle cam. Just a holley double pumper carb. My normal idle with the big cam was 1200-1300 rpm.
