i like the color combo,  :icon_smile_big:

Make a nice matching "bookend" in your collection?  :icon_smile_big:

Love that car.. Great color combo, stance, hemi with 4-gear... But, it is extremely rare... A U-code Daytona, not an "L"..   :icon_smile_big:

Original black interior car too, but very well done!

Ahhh, I thought this car was familiar, I supplied some repro parts for it many years ago, "Michel" was/is quite the character

Looks like a Dave Patik front spoiler?, either that or it got flattened rolling off a trailer?

Q5XX29

Gorgeous car, indeed! But yeah, what is up with that front spoiler? Wouldn't be hard to make something that at least LOOKS more original... Maybe a previous owner didn't like the way the originals looked?

I'll lean towards it being a Patik/Year One repro, they tend to exhibit the same fit... here's a few cars known wearing them

Ah, I see... doesn't seem like it would be that difficult to produce a piece that looks a lot closer to the original. If my car didn't have an original one, I would rather just make something myself that would turn out looking closer to correct (and I am no master fabricator). Kind of an eyesore to anybody who is familiar with Daytonas.

stunning car, no doubt. 225k for non matching numbers 440 daytona is a nice, healthy sum, helped out by it being a three pedal version

the superbird, a real hemi car, is the one that sold too low

Is there a link to the Superbird results?  We have a thread on this someplace? I'm curious on condition and hammer price. Thx.

I went through the Mecum site for Indy auction and found only a 440 'Bird (and Hemi 500).  No Hemi 'Bird: different auction or did I miss it? Thx.

The Superbird made no sense, even as a column auto bench car.

In terms of the "freshening" that was done to the Hemi Superbird at MCR in Wisconsin, I suspect from the photos it has had enough cosmetics done to turn off the survivor crowd ("Don't touch a thing!").      On the other hand if the paint truly is 95% original,  it may not be good enough for auction buyers expecting for show perfect paint as the norm.

Look at the underhood.  To me, it looks too nice for a 47 year old car, even with 9000 miles.   The paint on the engine, the horn, the plated fasteners on the firewall.   All these things mellow with time on a survivor car.

All the above said,  with EZ access spark plugs,  if the seller didn't buy it back it was amazingly well bought!

OK the Bird went for $230,000. Ad in a 10% buyer fee and you are at $253,000, a bit low but not way out of line IMO

The Daytona at $225,000, plus 10% buyers fee means $247,500 which is very strong for a non-numbers matching, Daytona IMO
