Anyone have any good diagrams or pics on how the fuel line in the engine bay for a 1969 with a 383 routes properly?  thanks!

so this is my engine bay and the previous owner way back when, just clamped the filter up there.  I just installed new stainless lines and the fuel line was a bit longer, as it should be.  Im figuring the filter shouldn't be way up there.  and Im looking to see how long the rubber fuel hose and the routing of it should go to the fuel pump.

and yes...I know the current tube is going into the exhaust....the new line is capped red

So are you planning on making your own pump to carb lines or buying new repro ones? There is a short piece of hose from rear line that connects to the fuel pump, maybe 9-10 inches long, best to just cut to fit once you have the engine in. From the pump there is a short, bent line that curves straight up behind the alternator, then a piece of rubber line, then the fuel filter is pretty much just under and between the alternator and block, then another rubber line connects to the hard line going to the carb.

yea, im figuring that there isn't really any "proper" way to route it.  I didn't think I needed a crap ton of rubber hose like the previous owner used.  I'll probably run the rubber tube under the manifold, to a filter, to the pump in a pretty straight shot.

Well there is a "proper" way which would be away from all heat sources and wrapped in insulation, but if you are going for the factory look then how I described above and the picture in my first post would be factory correct.

so the fuel filter after the pump?

Yes. There is a sock/strainer on the end of the fuel sending unit in the tank. The only other filter is after the fuel pump, in between the pump and the carb.
