I really try to not trash anyone else's ride, but this one is disturbing.

I remember this car, it was featured in a European car magazine. The owner is an Italian man who came to the u.s. for business frequently, and had a shop build this car to his tastes.

I think we discussed it here.

Laugh all you want (and the car in question does nothing for me) but there's no hemi in my car and I'm up to 152 K Cdn at this point... and I've done all the mechanical work and assembly myself on what was a driving car.  :scratchchin: If I was paying for the tear down and component rebuild, on top of the body work and paint I farmed out, I'd be well over 200 by now and I didn't touch the engine and trans significantly. If I did the bill would be that much higher.

I guess the difference might be I know that I'd only get 65k on a very good day when it's all done. Mind you nobody knows what the reserve is set at on the car in question either.... could be 30K to get rid of that ugliness.

I wouldn't do that, but I am not offended by it.  I figure he did what he wanted, and I am assuming he enjoyed it after it was done.  If he could afford it and it had a place for him, then it is fine by me.  Hopefully it finds someone to give it a nice home as is, or to do again.   :Twocents:

Yep, poor TR. Interestingly Ferrari calls it a V12 due to crank pin layout.

Car is at $42,800 and not yet at reserve.  What do you guys figure it would cost to return the car to a decent more "normal" car?  Even if good body work was done previously, would seem you would have to disassembly to repaint, especially the GM style paint job in the engine compartment, plus the interior is challenging and need of some investment (new restored dash plus some seats).
Car would seem to be worth $30K at most unless it actually fit your taste

daveco

If you look at the photos in detail, the craftsmanship is not impressive. I would expect everything needs to be redone. Some parts (like the console) look like they may have been nice before the mod and now will require considerable effort to get a good result.

The ideal customer for this car would be somewhat ignorant of Mopars in general, recently / easily wealthy,
and drunk.

Minus the color choice(s) I think it's pretty cool. But not $42K cool and rising....but this mopar / musclecar frenzy is almost science fiction lately....so who knows?

daveco

In all seriousness this strikes me a a scam car. If it was in fact a completion for a wealthy businessman (which I kinda doubt) he probably walked away after the first inspection. This would have been really neat in say, 1980-~maybe the mid '90s. But there are too many incongruities to believe that the person/persons building it had a clue.
-Crazy wild interior/paint with a stock looking engine 🤔
-Lots of issues with the "Italian leather" (looks sloppy as all get out)
-The aforementioned trash on the floor, seriously, you can't even pick up the trash???

I totally have no problem with customs or retro-mods or whatever. This one strikes me as a scam.

I'd drive it...............................Straight to my shop and strip it.
The ass on these cars look so plain when they are painted the body color.
Looking at the engine compartment I noticed all the plug wires zip tied together. I always thought you wanted some separation between them. Or is that now a mute point with the better technology with today's plug wires.

I'm usually a fan of white interiors but that's too much white for me. Not a fan of the paint scheme either, the colors are another story.  Each to his own.

When you make something (car or otherwise) too personal, you greatly reduce you ability to pull your money back out and as such I am quite surprised at the current 60k bid.  :shruggy:
