Good evening dear members.
At the moment I´m trying to figure out some details about how to mount my 833 transmission in my Dodge Charger 1973. Due to the fact I live in Germany, sometimes its not so easy to find answers, so I hope you guys can held me.

I have two questions.
1. where do I have to mount the shifter? Like you can see on the pictures, I have a Hurst Shifter. The car is a 1973 Dodge Charger with bucket seats. I mailed with the very helpful guys from brewers and they sendend me a lot of stuff I´m supposed to need for the swap to manual transmission.
But where do I have to mount the Shifter?
Like you can see on the pictures, I marked the two positions (1 and 2). Using the rods brewer recommended me, it should be position 2.
But when I search in the internet I always find that picture saying b-bodys need to position the shifter on position 1.
Am I wrong, that the Dodge Charge is a b-body?
Are the pictures I found on the internet wrong?
Is the position depending on the model-year?

Thank you.
Axel

And here the 2. question.
Same car. Same transmission. (833, 1973 Dodge Charger, bucket seats.)
Is the transmission mount I have here correct? It seems to be from a 71´Charger.
How does the mount that brewers recommended me fit on that mount and how does all this mount to my transmission?
I know, these questions may be stupid, but I really couldn´t find helpful informations until now.
Pictures how to put everything together would be great.

Thank you all
Axel

Charger is B body, BUT... I think some changes between 2nd and 3rd gen... the floor board, console, shifter location between E body and 71/74 B body are the same, soooo... maybe for a 71/74 shifter location should be the same with E body? sunno, I'm not manual transmision knowledge

tranny mount... a transverse bolt with cross member and couple of bolts to tranny

This cross member is a custom one but same idea of the original

here a side view of the original crossmember... you can get the idea between both pics

and here another general view... some far but you can get now the full idea

of course being a 73 you get a diff rear view because you'll find the torsion bars Crossmember in the middle, blocking the transsmision cross member view, but tranny crossmember and mount itself fits the same... also mounts the same for manual or automatic

For your 73 Charger ( B body) The forward mount is for bench seat and the rear mount for cars with bucket seats with and without console. My 73 Road Runner 4 speed car it uses the rear mount, my car is buckets without console.
Hope this helps,

Mike

This is correct!
The bench seat car uses a plate which moves the shifter back so it's between the two locations on the transmission.
Not sure which shift rods the bench seat car uses.

You definitely want to use position 2 for a 73 Charger bucket seat car.

Some of the confusion comes in the use of the mounting positions as labeled in your photo. The rear position is not just for E-body, but (as you know now) correct for 71-74 B-bodies with buckets. The front position (1) is the normal shifter positions for 70 and earlier B-bodies.
