It's going to be held at Atlanta Motor Speedway. I am taking my 70 there. I typically have no interest in entering it into car shows, but the all day autoX, and the parade lap on the banked oval have sold me on it. I'll be there. Here's the advertisement from the website.

Don't miss this one! The car show event that you don't want to miss is the Summit Racing Equipment Atlanta Motorama presented by RacingJunk.com on April 22-23!
The must-see car show event of the year, the Summit Racing Equipment Atlanta Motorama presented by RacingJunk.com, returns to Atlanta Motor Speedway April 22 and 23, 2017.

I went last year (as a spectator) and really enjoyed it.   I would like to go again this year if I'm able to.   There is a wide variety and Summit gives out discount coupons if you ask.   :yesnod:     :2thumbs:

It looks cool. It reminds me of the NOPI events that used to be held there. The all vehicles welcomed attitude is cool. Only they were slanted towards imports. This seems slanted towards old American stuff.

There's also a door prize giveaway of a 9000$ crate engine. I don't know if that's for all visitors or just those who register a car, but hey, I certainly wouldn't turn it down.

I don't think many Chargers, or Mopars in general will show, so I'm doing my part posting it here. I know there are a few around here.

There was a few mopars there last year for the show.   I doubt any of them would run the auto cross though.   That was one things that made me want to take my Charger there when I get it finished, I would love to run some auto cross in a big open parking lot so that if I loose it in a turn a cone is the worst thing to hit.   :smilielol:

I was planning to go, but she's down for a clutch replacement and rear main seal replacement. Don't think I'll have her ready by then.

That's too bad, I was hoping at least a couple of members here would make it.

One week to go! I was hoping to have the new UCAs installed with more camber for the autoX, but I won't have time. I'm going to run it how it is.

I can't wait!

Just bumping this to see if anyone else is going. Ive got the car loaded and ready, and am hoping for some more interesting cars to go to break up the endless sea of 69 Camaros and Mustangs. :icon_smile_big:

I didn't get to make it this year.   Let us know how it was, especially the auto cross.   :yesnod:    :2thumbs:

Well, heres a brief overview of what happened. The show was masisve, and fun. Id recommend it to anyone thinking about it, im going back next year.

I meant to snap a bunch of pics, but I was having so much fun I forgot about it. Heres a few I did manage to take.

When we parked the truck and trailer, we drove in to the event. What are the odds I wound up next to a 69 500 who let me merge into traffic.

There was actually around 10 Chargers at the event. A triple black 69, a black 70, a 73 Rallye, the pro touring 72 that Rutledge Wood drove on top gear us, and a few others. I wish id taken pics of them, but again, I was having too much fun to stop. Heres the rest of what I snapped. Ill limit it to Mopar/Charger related because this thread is in "Charger Discussion".

Here is a beautiful 70 Road Runner waiting to autocross.

Here is another 70 Road Runner with awesome patina. The vintage AFB parking stickers on the bumper were a cool touch. This is probably my favorite car at the event.

The view from one corner of the speedway.

Ima assuming this is a recreation vintage Superbird stock car. It had stock floors, cowl, and a VIN, so it was built from a real street car. It was awesome.

A beautiful 70 Challenger.

My 70 lined up on pit road, waiting to do the speedway cruise.

The speedway cruise was so much fun. Because its just a cruise, not a trackday, youre only going 60 or so around the banking, but I dont care. It was so much fun. Driving a couple feet from the wall, hearing the sound of a 440 echoing off along with all the other engines, was a tiny glimpse into what it must have been like during the 60s stock car era. It was worth it. Id go back just for that part.

The only bad news is I never got to autocross. The line to tech in was pretty long, and with 60 cars running, the time to stage seemed to be about 20 min. My temp gauge had climbed up to 215 while sitting in traffic to come in, and I didnt want to risk it. Some cooling upgrades are going on the priority list. Along with tightening the steering. My front end is all new with poly bushings, but the dead spot in the steering was further exaggerated when up on the banking by the wall. I have to address that. Its time for a borgenson, or a firm feel.

But overall, great event. We had a blast, and id totally recommend it. Were definitely going back next year!

Whenever I get my car finished, I plan to attend this show.  Plenty of stuff to do to keep you from getting bored.   Glad you enjoyed it JR, maybe next year we can both run the autocross.
