Final test assembly...help

I've got most of the back of my 69 mocked-up and held together with sheet metal screws. I need to address some things before I document and tear down to begin the final prep and assembly. I'd really appreciate some info for the following:

In the first picture, you see the valance and end-cap.

1 - Should the bottom valance corner be welded to the rear cross-member? You can see the sheet-metal screw in that area now holding the valance to the cross-member.
2 - That long tab that hangs down from the end-cap...where/how does that go? (note: I realize the end-cap/quarter panel gab needs a little massaging based on that photo).

In the second picture, you can see the quarter panel lip measures about one inch just before it starts the bend inward towards the car. That seems wide to me and it's less than that everywhere else around the lip. Should it be trimmed? What's the correct measurement in that area?

EDIT:  From the first picture...I really really need to work on the end cap. It looks really bad from that angle  :o

I am at the same point,  from what i understand the 1/4 corner needs to be welded to the 1/4 panel first because you will not have access to the flange after the valance is installed.

Yah, I had understood that too. What I did, using sheet metal screws, was mount the cap to the quarter first. What I'm probably going to have to do is weld it on first and test fit again. But I can't do that until I know where those tabs go.

I believe that the tab of the corner cap simply folds up underneath.
I have not done this so PLEASE someone who has let us know. thanks

I got my answer thanks to "70 sublime" who called me while looking at his car (Thanks to him :2thumbs:). The tab is sandwiched between the quarter panel and the floor extensions. So, you never see it once installed.

Which rear valance are you using?  does it fit OK?

I need to order one.  I've found some threads about the valances, but they are a couple of years old.

Thanks!

Use the AMD rear valance! It fits great and has the correct 2 tabs the weld to the rear frame rail
