Still has the fender tag,  :2thumbs:

Do we know if it is getting restored?

Looks to have been in an accident, maybe that's  why it was parked. Wonder if it'll run?

Awesome car to find.

If it's been sitting since the early 70s, it certainly had a hard life in its short time on the road.  To get fender rot, did it get driven in winters only?

The rear quarter has something going on also.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

It's a convertible.  It had rust holes on the assembly line.

OK, the story I got from a guy at work, (that's how I got my last one owner 69 S.E. 4-spd Charger) was the owner bought new in 69. Dan's father lived right behind the owner & his wife. The owner passed away 2-3 years ago, widow was taking offers on the car, she knows what she has. So after playing phone tag for a few weeks I get ahold of her, set up a time for my buddy Pat & I to go look at the car on a Sat. We get down to the house, & first thing she says is I'm in no mode for shit. She goes on to say she had a man the other day stop by & really picked the car apart, the door, rust on fender, seats & motor's locked up, beat the offer down, really upset her. I told her she should have told him to leave.
So Pat & I spent a good half to 45 min. looking over the car. Four flats so I didn't want to force the floor jack under anything, but from what we saw, I am going to say surface rust only on floor boards, both sides. Pulled the trunk mat back on either side, paint looked like new, under side of the trunk, the outers were solid & lower quarters had minor rust on bottoms only. Moving forward the rockers were also good, though we didn't poke them with anything, under the battery tray was solid, took that out long time ago. Pat took a lot more Pict's  with his camera than I did, use my phone. Put the breaker bar on the motor & drum roll please, moved both ways,  :2thumbs:, so we talked over what I should offer her & also to kick it up. So we put everything back we'd moved to look the car over & went inside to talk to the widow, next part is were it gets good.
So we are sitting in the living room talking to the widow, she has calmed down, we are there 5 min. not more than 10, when in walks her oldest son. He take two steps, shuts the door, looks right at her & says(ARE YOU GOING TO SELL THAT FU*KING CAR), Pat & I were shocked to say the least. Well she shot right out of her chair, got right in his face & said  let's talk out in the garage. I said Pat & I will go wait out in the car, this is a family matter, she's like no, I said I under stood. They went around the wall & then the son came back & introduced him self & said he was sorry.
So Pat & I were out in the car for a good half hour maybe or more, when she walks out. We get out & see that she has been crying, she says I'm sorry you came all this way for nothing but Scott, the son, now wants the car. I said no that's all right, anytime you get to see a one owner all original car is worth it. So we talk for another hals hour or more & get low down on the car, son & the ass hole that upset her.
Her husband bought new in 69, they had their first date in 71, he worked at US steel, they lived in Hammed, Ind., & had family in Lafayette, Ind. This accounts for the 14300 miles on the car & the rust, daily driver. The door was a hit & run, someone backed into it with a trailer hitch. They moved to their present house in 77, that is when the car was parked & never driven again. Could have been, I'm going to fix it & life got in the way, we all know haw that works. She told us how they would put two bassinets in the back seat & head South, we all looked at each other & said, with no seat belts at the same time, got a laugh out of that. Turns out the ass hole is known  by the son, & he is going to say something to him. She says the son is the one that told her to sell the car in the first place, seams that none of the kids wanted it. He just got married last June & they are having first child. So I told her my offer & said I would go a little more, she says that mine is a lot more than any others. We told her the motor was not locked up & that you could at least get the motor to turn over & run for a short time. Told her that if Scott changed his mind, or wanted to sell, to call me.
Soon as Pat & I were on the way back I told Pat, Scott didn't want the car till the offers kept going up, & looked on E-bay. He thinks he will get car for cheap & sell high. I also said that reality has not set in yet, (his wife). Pat thinks that it's not over yet, just take time & I may get a call. I said if I do OK if not OK. Told Dan, the guy at work that told me about the car, the store & asked him to have his dad just keep his eyes & ears open, I don't want to bug her. I do have a Pict. of the fender tag & vin, but didn't want to post them on the net. Well that about does it, long story, if I find anything out about it will let everyone know. Jeff.

Cool story.     Here's hoping you guys end up with it. Be nice to see that on the road again, even if you just pulled out the dent and cleaned her up.

Jeff, if you get it you will need to make room in the shop. As a favor to you I will come over and take the yellow car off your hands. I can have the truck and trailer at your place in 10 minutes.  ;)

  Cool to see another old ragtop. The original owner story behind it is also cool.  :coolgleamA:

By the way, where these things rust, or don't rust, amazes me sometimes. When I got my 1969 Satellite convertible in 1984 I expected to see no floors under the carpet but surprised when I pulled it out & saw original sheet metal with all the paint.   :o

Cool story hope you guys end up with the car. I had my chance at a one owner 69 convertible RR car back in the 90's but let my friend talk me out of it.  :brickwall: Needed floors and trunk and thought it would be to much to take on at the time.

Great story, thanks for sharing that.

I too, hope you end up with the car.

Tim, the Yellow 69 R/T S.E. 4spd. is one that I will never get rid of, the Red one will fit on your trailer, just takes money.

Who knows, would love to get it & get it road ready & just drive it, time will tell.

Update on the R.R., still sitting in the garage with boards across the hood & fenders. Dan told me last Sunday that he saw it there when he was down to see his dad. The widow was out in the yard mowing, garage door was up. Told Dan if he saw her again to tell her the guy at work is still hot & heavy for it. And he was adding a 17x72 addition onto the main barn for it, which they should start in about two weeks.
