I put about 300 miles on my Barracuda, and used up probably $50+ dollars worth of gas, but I had a good (albiet somewhat eventful) time.

On the way to Lincoln, I stopped to get a bite to eat, and clean the bug guts off my windshield.  I noticed that my passenger rear tire was low.  REALLY low.  Luckily there was an auto repair shop right next door, so I went over there to get my tire filled up, and saw this car.  Original 340, was the owners first car.  He also has a 76 Duster with a 500 wedge that he races.

I stay and chat for a bit, then get on my way again.

I reach Lincoln, and pull into a gas station, to read the directions to a local Mopar owner's house, and to clean more dead bugs off the windshield.  Once I finish, I get back in the Barracuda, and turn the key.  Nothing.  I try again.  Nothing.  Son of a.....

Starter problems.  Not good, since I was about 120+ miles from home....  A guy who worked at the gas station tapped the starter while I turned the ignition, and got me started.

I reached the guys house without further incident.  This is what he owns.

And this is what his Dad owns.

I convoy with him and one of his friends from his house to Culvers, after getting my Barracuda started with the old "Tap the starter, turn the key" trick.

Along the way to Culvers, we meet a couple other guys in a white Chevelle and an 06 Vette, and convoy with them, with me at the end of the line.  At the left turn lane into Culvers, everyone manages to pull in together, except me, because a line of cars came by.  I turn into Culvers, spot a white Chevelle, and follow it.  Turns out, it was a different Chevelle, and I end up parking CLEAR across the lot from everyone else.

I walk around the lot for a while, snapping pictures, and looking for my friends, finally finding them.  We walked among the cars for a while, taking pics, talking, etc.  Finally, we work our way to where everyone parked, in a corner of the lot, where most of the Mopars congregated.  I decide to bring my car to join them.  So, I walk back down, get in the car, and....  the starter worked.  No tapping it, all I did was turn the key.  I had no other problems the rest of the night.

Aaaaanyway, here are the promised pictures.

I think you can use a starter off a early 90's sb which is more or less a mini-starter. Might want to double check before buying one.

Every friday. ;D

Didn't catch the owner of the 71 R/T, unfortunatly.

What pisses me off about the starter is it's new.  I just replaced the damn thing 6 months ago.

6T9, which Charger?  There were 3 of them.

Just gotta add one last picture:  A shameless plug for the car club that I met out there at Culvers. ;D

Thanks Ghost! I love those bugs eye vew night shots... Great stuff!  :icon_smile_big:

TheGhost

Can't take the credit for those, unfortunatly.  All the pictures from the 2nd post were taken by another member of the club, the guy with the Polara.

Nice pics. How much were they asking for that '68 Barracuda convertible?

Nupe

That 71 R/T rocks! I believe someone posted it on Moparts before and it is all original and person bought it new.  They did the minor mods and never touched it after.  :icon_smile_cool:

Nice pics.  I'd love that '68 b'cuda vert for a cruiser.   :yesnod:

Funny thing is, the guy who drove it to the show came up and asked me how much I thought it would be worth, as he wasn't sure what to ask.  I said I'd pay 8k for it.  He told me that he didn't own the car, but he was selling it for an old lady, and that it was her husbands, but he had recently died.

Believe me, if I had the money, I'd have bought it then and there.

So do I, and fastbacks look even better, but I want the whole set, which means I need a vert and a fastback.

Hey Ghoste, I have a 68 Cuda notchback myself!! I love second Gen's as well. I'll try to post pics. My dad and I restored it back in '99. I'll post pics asap. I'm the second owner and have owned it since my Dad bought it for me back when I was 14. Love your car!! :yesnod:

My son went to school at UNL.  We used to drive from St.Louis to Lincoln all the time.  What is with all those bugs?  I have never in my life before or since seen that many dead bugs on the windshield.  You must stop and scrape them off are you just can't see the road.
