I got a complete gasket set for my 440 sometime ago and have a set of exhaust manifold gaskets left. Is there any reason I can't use them with headers ?

I used the exhaust gaskets from a FelPro gasket kit a few years ago on a 440 with headers. They worked for a while but eventually started to leak on the rear cylinders on both sides after about a year.

Use a set of the Percy's dead soft aluminum gaskets. These are a multi layer construction and totally re-usable. I've been using the same set on 2 different engines for over 10 years and they've been on/off a half dozen times. NO leaks....ever !  :icon_smile_cool:

Good to know someone came up with a solution in the past 37 years!  :2thumbs:

Even with the header "printing" the gasket ??

97-98 Had a marine application that constantly blew out wet header gaskets. Had to pull each motor to access outboard header assemblies. Major pain in the butt. I do not recall if they were Percy, but multi layer aluminum gaskets that, if they needed to be reused, simply throw them in the oven, at a preset temp and time and you are ready to go. Best header gasket ever.
Note; do not play the oven gasket game if the wife is around..

Yep, the bead around the port opening on the header flange will imprint itself on the MLS gasket surface and seal up beautifully.  :2thumbs:

I've used them with the same TTI headers for many years and recommended them to a friend who was having problems with a set of crusty old Headman headers....they worked like a charm and he even used them when he replaced the Headers with a set of HP manifolds.  :icon_smile_cool:
