Just wondering what everyone runs and prefers for plugs. Any suggestions, advice and free knowledge is always appreciated. :icon_smile_big:
Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Interesting topic :popcrn: I often wonder what are the differences in "spark plug" brands ::)

And it is also interesting that champion is one of the highest on the poll? :ahum:

I have been part of 2 dyno tests changeing just plugs. One on a race bike the other a car. There was so little difference between brands and types of plus it is not worth showing the charts. NKG's did have a slight edge. The best thing you can do is just change them often has a new set is always best.

I've been using Champions for years and I've had no problems with them.  Until I do or there is conclusive evidence of something else being better, I'll continue to.
I tried Accel U-grooves once many years ago and didn't like them (but I honestly can't remember why).

Big Lebowski

Autolite 85's You can't tell it's a Ford part. :icon_smile_big:

I believe neil addressed this question a year or so ago and stated that he did a dyno run on a hemi with only changing the spark plugs and champions yielded the highest HP and Torque numbers of all.  I believe he used three different types.  I dont remember the other types, just the winner :D

I like the Autolites myself.  I've run Champion a lot and they are fine, just that the Autolites seem to last longer for me.

Now if you really want to start an interesting poll, ask what oil filters (or oil) we use in our cars.  :yesnod:

I run Champion in all my Mopars. I tried Autolites one time and it was a mess. They didnt do very good.   My daily driver Honda Prelude went thru a tune up a few years ago and it calls for NGK plugs but I decided to get the Champions for it. I had nothing but troubles with the Champions. The gap kept opening up on them and the car wasnt that smooth when running.  Just seemed to not run well.   I decided to spend the $ and get the NGK plugs it actually calls for and it was night and day difference in how it ran. Way better and I havent had to re gap them at all. I will go with NGK next time for sure on the Honda.

Some of my chevy buddys laugh at the Champions., They cant get them to run good in the chevys.

We spoke about this one a time long ago and I dont know if theres truth to it or not but ignition systems from the various manufactuers are designed with a plug in mind and thats why certain plugs seem to work better in some vehicles and not others. A resistance in the plug to go along with the ignition systems.   My parts store owner/friend says there are 2 different Champion Plugs out there. The ones you get at an auto parts store and the others you get at K mart or Wal Mart. They used to have a spark plug machine that would test plugs and you could see a difference between a parts store and a discount store plug.

Anyone else ever hear about this theory on plugs and ignition systems?

I don't know why. But it seems like Champions have always held up longer for me. I do run a step hotter though on the engine's that are a little worn out on my Mopars or Chevy. I usually can get away with cleaning them 2 or 3 times before replacing them.

I won't vote since I have allways used J12YC Champions and is not fair vote for them since I have not compaired( I wish to find Rs series because the radio noises, but haven't had success down here ), but I have to admit that I never have noticed nothing weird with Champions... never had as far I know a spark plug problem related.

somebody can post the J12YC equivalents on rest of brands...

I know autolite is 85, but the rest ?
