69 Charger RT vs RT/SE

Looking at a 69 Charger RT and a 69 Charger RT/SE.

From what I have found the only difference is "A new trim line called the Special Edition (SE) was added. This could be available by itself or together with the R/T, thus making an R/T-SE. The SE added leather inserts to the front seats only, chrome rocker moldings, a wood grain steering wheel, and wood grain inserts on the instrument panel."  It goes to speak of the sun roof on 260 of the cars (this does not have one).

Are these the only differences?

Thank you,

RC

The RT is the plastic black grain dash and the RT/SE is the wood grain plastic.  You can clearly see the molding differences and the RT/SE does have the vinyl top.  < Yes I know some do not like them and some do.  I like the car with either.

Thanks again

Hi RC , you are correct on most of what you think is added to an SE car .The rocker moldings were not standard on the SE , it was still an option . What also you do get that you did not mention was pedal dress up , and the AO1 light package .

If it makes any difference that seems to be one of the early 69 Chargers with the extra mystery hole in the fire wall

SE's didn't have power brakes?

SE was a trim or decor group. Has zero to do with anything else.

It included  leather front seats, woodgrain dash, turn signals in the hood, special ornamentation, and more

It could be had on any 1969, even those without power brakes

F8-4life

Go for the RT/SE car if everything else is comparable. It's more likely a fully optioned out car and less were made.

Hood turn signals is not just for SE  Chargers.

I have seen SE's that didn't have A/C or power brakes . But , most of the time they are optioned out pretty high . I like everything about the SE option except the wood grain dash .

Hood turn signals is not just for SE  Chargers.

Understood on that, but the hood signals were mandatory, or a part of the SE Group.

And the sail panel emblem, not a fan of those.

The pedal trim is nice though and will be going on my car.   :yesnod:

Ours is R/T SE, power brakes, No A/C, but strangely factory G11 Tinted Glass ALL ?
I thought it strange ?
because I had thought G11 Tinted Glass was probably mandatory with A/C ? I just never figured someone would, or could order it all alone WITHOUT A/C ?
I guess many did ?
Nice touch on a "Black" car that they otherwise FORGOT to order A/C on !
Frigg'in Canadians eh ?

I think the "SE" was a very nice appearance "pkg" for the day, adding a semi-luxurious component feel on the otherwise performance oriented R/T's.

G15 tinted windshield was mandatory with A/C but G11 was optional.

I'll never figure out why someone ordered ours WITH G11, but NO A/C ?
Must be a Canadian thing..... might only need A/C a coupla weeks a year, but the Tinted Glass Year Round ?

Maybe it's just a cosmetic thing. I prefer some tint over clear as well, although green wouldn't be my first choice.   ;)

Yes, in fact those are two of the cars that I am looking to purchase.  Thank you for the heads up.

Thank you all for the insight.  Given the discussion is including critical review of dealerships, where do you recommend I look for my purchase?

Thank you

Not to hijack the thread , but LOL tan top !!!! I was thinking the same thing about going with the pebble grain for the dash . But then reality ( at least to me ) hits , better leave it as it should be . Not to slam people who repo parts , but I have not found a set of the repo wood grain dash plates that either match my original of what the grain should look like in color as well as the grain . For the past 2 years , a vendor at Carlisle ( won't say who as he is a good guy ) has a set and the gauges and radio plate pieces are shinier than the plate that goes above the glove box . So I didn't buy them , then out in the swap area , I find a personal vendor selling a set , they are exactly the same dilemma !!!!!! Hmmmmm , why is he selling them ? Are they all like this ? So with that I have yet to purchase the plates for my car , as I won't dare take the chance and call the two vendors who supply them , and trust they will send me something they would put on their own car . I want to see them in person , and if they satisfy me , I will buy .
Hence , I don't know of any source that can restore them to near mint/original look ( nobody suggest the overlay stickers either ) as of yet .
