The Ghoul

 :brickwall:
I am fortunate enough to live across the street from a small town bar.
The owner passed away 2 summers ago and his wife took over. His wife started to date an 'entertainment promoter' who thought it was a good idea to make karioki wed. and fri. a staple at the bar.
It is friday night,
a very nice night might I add so I wish to have my window oppen as I study for finals.
I cannot enjoy this night by oppening above mentioned window because there is the constant noise of screeching bar patrens that think they sound good singing to songs no one has cared about in the last decade.
This would not bother me so much but you can hear them with the window closed, very clearly!!
I cannot drown them out by playing music of my own because my parents are sleeping and would be disturbed by this.
So me being the individual that dose not like to rain on any ones good time am left to suffer through this.

Lets see here
[2(x-3)^n as n approches infinity from 0 is 2(x-3) + 2(x-3)^2 + why do we drink + why do we smoak... damn did it again!! LOL
Its not quite that bad, I'm just luckey that Im doing math and not reading.

What do people see in singing at the top of there lungs, in front of a bunch of people in a bar?
Do they think some one is going to offer them a recording contract or something?

my best friends run a karaoke show when the bands arent playing, and every thursday night. if hosted by the right people who know how to run a PA and know how to keep it intertaining , it can be a lot of fun.if not i feel bad for you. there is good reason why my friends get $100 more a night than other shows in the area and have no problems booking shows.
there are those who think they are "all that" there are several who really are great singers, and then there is me lol..when i sing karaoke i do different songs for different reasons. but its always for a laugh. when i sing country i do it cuz everybody is singing country, if i sing it theyre not. i sometimes sing a song i love, even tho i know i cant sing it well (i do "ok" at some) at least nobodys singing country while i am singing it.other times i pick a really wierd song that just confuses people such as "BEEP BEEP" by the playmates, wich i did recently..trying to keep up with the words at the end of that song is a trip lol.and again i wasnt listening to a country song...obviously the country gets to me lol

A couple years back I went and stayed and stayed with a buddy who just moved from this area to Phoenix. He was living in this project diwn there and Friday and Saturday nights the Koreans living downstairs would be up singing until 6 am getting drunk, singing mostly Korean pop songs and some Amerocan songs in horrible dialects.

i used to think it was stupid too...we had a karioki (spell check) thing at school about 2 times a year and i always hated it...until one of my friends got me too sing pickup man on stage with him...it was acutally alot of fun and we got 1st place duet (cool little plastic trophy) so the next year we went and sang devil went down to georgia and won again....then we each sang a solo and i got 1st and he got second...we actually had a small fan club it was pretty funny

Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....

Have you ever tried to have a conversation with someone in a Karaoke bar? Nope, can't here the person next to you. Mine as well sit there and drink. You might have to get use to it or move Ghoul. I'm sure they sell allot of booze in there. Ive only sung Karaoke once with a couple of friends and I must admit it was fun. But on the other hand, one of the most painful things to endure is to listen to 5 buddies who have been slamming drinks for 3 or 4 hours sing Wanted dead or alive.
Still looking for 15x7 Appliance slotted mags.....

It's called an excessive, irresponsible use of alcohal. Yes karioki sucks!

If I want to hear old Tom Petty, Frank Sinatra or Sweet songs, I'll buy their CDs...

i used to totally hate it, and depending on the host , bar , and crowd sometimes still do. karaoke can be a lot of fun, but it can also be painfull!!  its also not for everyone

as a profeshonal sound man i will say that if you cant hear to talk in any bar, even with a band playing its too freekin loud and somebody dont know how to run there stuff..of corse thats the problem that really caused this whole thread to start with.
