Hi,

Been lurking around the forum for a while, and thought I should share my recent acquisition.. ;)
I bought a 1968 Charger, 383 4b with 4 speed. Originally red with black vinyl top.  It is pretty rough, needs new floors and valance and I`m sure there is alot more in need of restoration.
The car has been sitting since 1989 in a garage in Georgia, and was shipped to Norway in jan/feb `17.
The engine has been turned over, but not started. I call it a "barn find".  :coolgleamA:
Will post more pictures, just need to get my garage cleaned out so I can start tinkering with the car.
Is there anybody from the area who know this charger? It was sold new in Paulding in 68, and driven until 89. Sat in a garage until a guy who runs a body shop in Mt. Airy found it and sold it to Norway, and the guy I bought it from.

Hello and welcome to the site!

Looks like a great car to start with.

If the car is a factory 383 4 speed, it is a rare car. I think the number was 259 (383-4bbl 4speed) Chargers produced.

Good looking car (what is visible) in the driveway. Chev or Pontiac maybe?

Thanks everyone

Yes, I believe this is an original 383 4b with 4 speed. At least according to the fendertag and vin.
Haven`t checked the numbers yet, but it looks like both engine and trans are the originals.

It`s my `58 Bel Air in the backgound.. or it was mine, sold it a week ago since I dont have a place to put it during the winter, now that the charger occupies the garage. ;)

Hello, welcome aboard, nice Charger, 68s are great!!!!  :2thumbs:

But "Barn Find" did you have to go there?  :smilielol: :smilielol:

That front side marker light on 68 Chargers always looks like a "tack-on" item. The Plymouths had them down lower on the fender. I think they look better lower.
Congrats on the car!

Fonzy

congrats, looks like it's in good shape and a proper basis to start from  :2thumbs:

I think the 70 model grill as RC,MTD would say looks like a big Harmonica , the 68 looks much better than the UGLY 70 model.  :smilielol:

I like the 68 grille better as well. We work with what we have though.
