THE STIG

So I pulled my radiator from my 70 Charger to have it reconditioned and the dude at the radiator shop asked if I have a 383, I told him no it's a 440 but the car had a 383 stock that the last owner replaced with a 440. He talked me out of having it reconditioned and now I'm in the market for a 3 row radiator. When I bought the car the fan shroud was in the trunk and I was going to attempt to reinstall it when I put the radiator back in but now I'm seeing that a lot of the replacements are warning that the factory shroud may not work. Is this an issue? Can anyone point me in the direction of a good factory replacement radiator that won't cost me an arm and a leg? The links below are 2 of the ones I was looking at.

Why does he think a 440 runs any hotter than a 383??

I've had a 22" x 2 core in my car for the past 38 years, that's not even proper and has the smaller lower hose connection from a small block C body. Only time I've ever had to run the heater box to save from overheating was in stop and go traffic one day on the 401 on a 90F+ day. I've run it with a 160F thermostat so it opens early and gets the flow going..

Well I've never had any cooling issues either except when my lower hose started to leak, but that's what the man said....

I have a ECP radiators, 2 row alum keeps my 512. COLD AC outside temps over 105, running 180ish ALL day long.

Well I've had a few other endorsements for the ECP on one of the other forums, at the moment I have no A/C but am seriously considering it in the future. BTW your 68 is seriously sinister looking

I went with a 4 row OER 4 core radiator, 17" fan and shroud, high flow water pump and Milodon 160 t-stat and my 505 stroker never goes above 170.  Plus, the black radiator looks better through the open grill.
