Is there some special trick to make speedometer work and keep working?  I bought a new speedometer, speedometer cable and also the installer put on a new gear.  Yet it is not working.  When the shop pulled it out of transmission and spun it by hand the speedometer moved.  So the issue is down at the trans level.

Is there a special way to seat it or something?

will

Perhaps the cable wasn't pushed into the speedometer all the way. Try undoing the cable from the transmission and see if you can push the cable into the speedometer. You might have to jiggle the cable back and forth, turning it until you think it's found its seat. Thread the cable back onto the transmission and go for a spin. Hopefully it works.

the gear holder in the trans has to be clocked properly for the amount of teeth it has. it is marked on the holder, housing.

:iagree:  Installing the adapter wrong will shred all the teeth off the pinion.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
