Good 440 valve cover gaskets

Mine are leaking again  :brickwall:  I've tried different ones over the years with mixed results.  Has anyone tried the silicone fiberglassed reinforced ones from 'Real Gaskets Tennessee' #MVC-2FR?  They're pretty spendy, but if they work I don't care.  BTW I'm using the Mopar Performance aluminum valve covers and aluminum '452' heads.

Fabricated valve covers and alum heads. Cork works for me!

I wish cork worked for me!  They still start leaking after awhile at the bottom rear on both sides.  At that point they're wet and just push out if you try to torque them a bit more.

Moroso makes some that Mopar Action magazine liked.
Here is what I learned: The gasket does want to move around. I usually put a thin bead of RTV on the VC and smear it, then set the gasket and let it dry. THEN, during installation, I found that the valve cover, due to gravity, wants to slide toward the headers. This means the gasket rail on the head isn't being fully covered! The lower edge is where oil will seep due to gravity as well, so now I set the VCs in place with the bolts, then slide the valve cover toward the intake a bit while feeling the bottom edge. There should be about 1/4" of valve cover hanging below an Edelbrock heads gasket rail. The 452s are supposed to be a MP copy of them, right?

Good ideas!  Yes the '452' Mopar heads are made by Edelbrock.  Same as the RPM's, but with straight plugs..

the Moroso ones work great, BUT it is very easy to over tighten them & it will cut them, also need to use sealer around the bolts, I now have the pricey Cometic ones & have had the covers on & off a few times & still no leaks. & also just as Kern said

With the machine ridge aluminum heads, the blue moroso gaskets have always worked for me.

If it's a hyd cam motor and you don't think you'll need to be " regularly" pulling the valve covers, I e had the best luck with the fel-pro "rubber coated fiber" gaskets with Ede heads and mp cast valve covers.

Hey Bob,

I've had the same Moroso "blue" VC gaskets for close to 10 years on 2 different motors and the valvecovers have been off/on at least a dozen times for valve adjustments. No leaks yet !  :2thumbs:

Thanks guys!  I'll look around locally for the Moroso ones.  Probably will have to order them though.....

Good to know! I've had a set of these in the package, next to my MP aluminum covers for years, waiting for a day like today.
