what is the smallest wheel width you can run a 275/60/15? I have a friend with 15x8 wheels and the 275/60 looks pretty good on it.  I want cop wheels with redline dog dishes on my charger. Would the 275/60 fit on the 7 in cop wheel, or do I need the get a custom sized cop wheel.. ie, 15x8 (or possibly 9)? I would like to put 275/60 on rear and 245/60 on front.
Thanks

The minimum recommended rim size for those tires is 7.5".  You should put them on 8 inch rims, they will fit on rims up to 9.5".  I squeezed that size tire on a 7 inch rim before and it was kind of tight.

Thanks, thats what I sort of expected, I saw a pair of custom 15x9 cop wheels on ebay a while back ago for 100 plus 50 shipping. I wished I would have bought them. Use the 15x9 with 275/60 out back, with original 15x7 with 245/60 up front. In my mind I think that should look good.

Thanks again,
Jason

If you have 7" rims, they'll work. I ran those tires on 7" police rims for years with no problems. But they fit much better on the 8" rims currently on the car.

Hey 71charger_fan,
Thanks for the info, sharp car man.  I hope to find me a 3rd gen, one day.

jaak. I was thinking of getting rid of my 15x7 cop wheels. I want the 15x7 without the brake cooling cutouts. I just love the dog dish look. I am thinking of letting you have them for not much more thatn the shipping costs. Let me know by e-mailing me at deputycrawford@aol.com. I also have the cop dog dishes to go with them. I'll throw them in too. I got them cheap, just looking to break even. I like to spread the wealth around the hobby. They are in excellent shape. I took them off a running vehicle.

When I upgraded from 14" to 15" wheels back in the early 90s the BFG chart showed 7" as the minimum wheel width for a 275/60-15. They've since upped that to a 7.5" wide wheel. 7", however, will work if that's what you have. If you still need to buy wheels, you should consider getting 8s.

jaak, I haven't seen your e-mail. My daughter uses this computer also and may have erased anything she didn't recognize. I will let her know to back off that stuff. I did speak with a guy in town today that knows I have them. He made me an offer of a trade for the steel ones im looking for. Sorry about getting your hopes up. I can keep an eye out for you for another set. As a matter of fact, my county garage has few sets laying around. I might bid on them at the next auction and let you know. I do know a few cops. :icon_smile_cool:
