A friend of mine is looking at buying a
69 Dodge Charger r/t.
He emailed me the Vin No XS29M9Bxxxxxx
The question is does anybody know what
the "M" is please??  I was thinking 6 pack
but have not heard of a 69 charger with a 6 pack.
Thanks in advance

More than likely, the M is a H and your friend needs reading glasses.

That would be interesting too. A 383 R/T.
Seeking information on '69 St. Louis plant VINs, SPDs and VONs. Buld sheets and tag pictures appreciated. Over 3,000 on file thanks to people like you.

How well does your friend know Chargers? I was at a car show last September and had a guy with a 69 R/T park next to my 68 Charger. He proceeded to tell me that his 69 was the ONLY real 69 R/T in the area, possibly the entire state (ok New Hampshire is small). I looked at the vin and then asked him to pop the hood. Yup, 383. Told him that R/T's came with a 440 or 426. He claimed that the original owner special ordered the car and that it was a true R/T with a 383. I asked if he had any paper work to confirm, at that point he slammed the hood and walked off. I went off to look at cars with a friend. When we came back my wife told me that he came back and started talking to her. He asked her what year her GTO was. When she replied a 72 and btw it's a Charger he walked off-again. ::) ::)

Thanks for the replies.....
I did tell my friend it cannot be an "M"
But I thought I would check just in case
he found a unicorn.
I'm waiting to hear back from him to confirm
Vin No
Thanks again

Homerr

If it does have an M in the VIN don't discount that it could be a repop/fake tag.  Dumbasses like to make up all kinds of fraudulent/ignorant crap.

Very true...I will let you guys know the outcome

Cncguy

Also check fender tag and see if they match.

VIN no ??
What is that?

I think he was shorting the word Number and asking a question... such as "Unusual Vin Number?"  Or did I misunderstand what you were asking?

No, (lol) not just a Aussie thing. Without trying to put in a call to the grammar police, I think had you put a period after the No and followed with a question mark it would have clarified it.  "No.?"  I had to read it and your original post before it was clear to me.   :2thumbs:

Nice to see you helping out a bud and checking up on the car for him.  :yesnod:

One of the main reasons I keep my tail away from car shows. I just can't handle that amount of ignorance. I'd have to bitch slap the guy.

'M' is special order V8, all cars pre 1970 got that FIFTH digit code for unusual engine combo... :coolgleamA:
Maybe a late 69 car could be ordered with a SIXPACK???

Could even be a ballstud hemi or rare Chrysler 1969 Ovalport/D-port 440 engine from Weslake Engineering in the UK???

Never say NEVER!!! :nana:
