"The woman" and i get set to go cruising in the Charger, and we make it about 2 blocks out of her neighborhood and my headlights go off. If i turn the lights off, then right back on, they'll work for a short time.... then start shutting off.  I've heard of issues with this because of the thermal thingee located inside the headlight switch, but i don't feel any signs of heat in the switch. All wiring is either correct or new in the headlight circuit, including a new dimmer switch.

I had planned to do the relay upgrade sometime this week, do you think it will remedy this problem?

Chryco Psycho

the relay upgrade should stop the problem by removimg the load from the light switch

martinihenry

Yeah, definitely do the relay upgrade. This is the way these cars should have left the factory. Also, make sure you check the wiring from the headlights back. You want to be certain there is no chaffing of the insulation that could contact the chassis and cause shorts.

The thermal thingee could be shot too.  Do you have another switch you could try as well?

It's a 69.

As soon as i get a chance, i'll do the headlight upgrade. I'll update yall ASAP!!

Thanks!

have fun- point of interest- make sure you take the power off the alt. stud!!! if you take it off the battery terminal- the alt gauge will always be showing a constant charge-also will be causing a stress on the existing OLD wiring!!!!!!!

Now if someone could just help me get my Temp. gauge to stop pegging out.....              :flame:

It does it all the time.... If i take the sender loose, it drops back to zero.

I've traced the wire from the sender all the way to the gauge, and everything seems to be in working order. :(

I think you're going to have to open up the guage.

71_deputy

I know it is hard to do with the dash intact- but what is the voltage to the gauges?  should be around a 5 volts pulsing.
