I'm getting close to finishing my '68. I have a clean, complete 727 that needs to be rebuilt.

I'm most likely going to be putting out around 650 hp and foot pounds of torque. If I were to build this trans myself (able to handle that), with a reverse manual valve body and shift kit... do you know where I would be price wise in parts? Ball park?  :shruggy: I've got estimates from companies in the $2,500-3K range.

Thank you

Jeff

A reverse manual VB takes the place of a shift kit....one or the other but not both in the same trans.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Thanks John. I didn't know that. So basically, I'm just looking at the price of a rebuild kit (maybe a few hundred), and a RVB ($400?)?

Total parts cost depending on the condition and what is inside yours to start- about 1000 bucks.

Thanks CoonhunterJoe. It was slipping so bad it barely moved the car when we pulled it, but is in great shape outside of that.

I meant things such as which hard parts were in it, that will determine if you have to machine parts to get extra clutches in or if the drum is burnt and needs replacement. Etc. Little things drive up costs considerably.

Just bought a Cope race trans and I absolutely love it!! His parts are awesome! RMVB too!

Thanks guys. Looked into it and saw nothing but great reviews. Looks like a route I'm going to go.

their site is gone, did something happen to them? or is it an IT snafu?

Take the 's' out of the URL. It looks like they have an expired or misconfigured security certificate.
