I'm in the process of tearing an A/C heater box from a 1968 B Body. My question is how do you remove the AC evaporator core from the metal box? I was able to figure out the heater core removal part of it but having troubles with this evaporator. I do not want to cause any damage by error by trial. I've searched the internet on "how to-s" most of my luck resulted in the heater box only applications or the ones I did find on the A/C heater boxes did not detail the A/C evaporator core removal. I know it must come out because they sell new ones. Anyone on here done this before? Pics?

Thanks VC

the core is attached to a tray that slides into the outer box.

Thanks CDR.  :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

Are the drain tube extensions a slip over connection? Do you yank them outward for removal?

Thanks

they pull straight off, they can get corroded & my need to spray them with penetrating lube. they are soft, work them slowly .

Thanks again CDR. I was able to successfully remove the A/C evaporator with your advice. The drain tube extensions were a bit challenging, but with patience they came off. I believe that there were a total of seven 1/4" hex head screws that secure the evaporator tray to the outer box.
