Not sure what to do
I am putting in the 2 piece floor but not sure if I want to go all the way up to the factory seam
Has anybody had any luck changing the full pan and then weld in the seam up under the parcel shelf and smooth it off to hide it ?

I am thinking about cutting it off just as it starts to go up and over rear axel so I can reach everything from the trunk lid side

That is exactly what I did. Right in the middle of the spare tire hold down bracket is where I cut my trunk floor. I just cut the hold down bracket off, made my line and cut the trunk out. Butt welded the new to the old, ground it down smooth and used fiberglass filler to dress it up. looks great now. Looking back on it, it would have been just as easy (if not easier) to install the entire pan instead of cutting it short.  :Twocents:

I'd go all the way with it. Then the seam easily hides with seam sealer.  :Twocents: :shruggy: LEON.

The AMD 1 piece trunk floor was one the best fitting pieces of all their metal on my 70. Fit like a glove, no finish work either.

I agree . I went ahead and replaced the entire trunk floor with the AMD piece. It fit great with little effort.

How did you fill in the seam on the floor when you were done or did you just run a bead of seam sealer ?

Plug welds. Got em in tight. I haven't added seam sealer yet, but plan to there, and on the floors I'm currently replacing.

I did mine . 2 piece. Went all the way up. Little bit of tight fit to get up there but really, it's not that bad. And as someone else mentioned it's probably easier then cutting and all the body work to hide the new seam . Unless you don't care  :shruggy:
