We were just trying to help out.
One time I bought an axle from a 72 Coronet thinking it would be a good spare for my 70 Charger. I've bought stuff thinking that I might be able to use it.
I saw that, I already had 3 of them once I got home.

Fixed it for you

By the time you cut it down, reweld, buy a sure grip, bearings and gears, axles and flanges, plus the 350 you just spent on it, you could have built a dana.  :scratchchin:

And/or have some custom wheels made$$$

Another thing to check is the bolt pattern for the wheels. Make sure it is 5 on 4.5 like your Charger is.

This is what I wrote to start this thread.
I decided it was time to start thinking ahead and purchased 8 3/4 rear end 742 3:23 open It's for my 73 Charger SE Ill put a 489 or just keep the 742 probably going with 3:55 gears in it wake up my 400 bb lol. Looking forward to tinkering with.
Not once did I ask for advice on what to do I just wanted to share it every one on here it feels like assumes I didn't do any home work. I could of payed  $3,000 for a new but that's not why bought this car it's to have fun working on it and enjoying the process of it. I've worked on motorcycles, hydroplanes, sprintcars I know what I have I appreciate every ones advice. Good for you on spending $25.00 on one that's awesome.

If you did your homework- a brand new one drum to drum with oil cost 2,000... you said you like to tinker, thats why i said my truck housing cost 25 bucks.... just the housing.... i built mine from scratch, you said you were looking forward to tinkering, i suggested tinkering and spending the same money on something better.... you got pissy. I built a 35 spline bullet proof dana 60 for under 700 bucks end to end. Let me know what your 8 3/4 cost when you are done.

Well, this topic really went to hell ..... :o

Yes it did and all I did was show my new acquisition I'll go over to the other forums at least I don't get thrown into the fire for just being excited.

c00nhunterjoe

Being excited and attacking forum members and calling them idiots are 2 different things. I dont think any forum will welcome that behavior. Good luck though.

OP mentioned getting different offset wheels if he doesn't narrow the housing.

Don't let it get to you. Stick around and post up when you have something to share. I'm sure some on here can appreciate your excitement.

Yes I had thought of that when I purchased it.  It's only 1.5 longer than mine so 3/4 " offset difference on the wheels is not that big of a deal.
