FY1 Charger

Just found this online
http://www.dodge.com/en/ifyouknowyouknow/

Kinda curious to see what the car is about, doesn't get unveiled until April though for the New York Auto show

Bad B-rad

Is this a whole new car or a new Challenger model?
Cool video, it worked. I want to know more!

FY1 Charger

I think it's a special edition or something along those lines. I believe it will be based off of the current challenger. If I had to bet money I would say that it is an awd hellcat.

JB400

Kinda shocking that they're bringing back the Demon nameplate considering why the first one was discontinued.

2014 Dodge Dart 2.4L

Bad B-rad

Why was the old Dodge Demon discontinued?
I always just thought because it was basically an uglier Plymouth Duster.(IMO)

Fitz73Chrgr

I'm glad the Demon name isn't being revived on the current Dart.

That being said, I'll still never buy a FCA product.  New Fords all day.

Demon was discontinued because a bunch of religious people complained about the nameplate and logo.

Wow,what a world.
Those same people probably didn't like the Dart swinger.
They were also the same people  protesting KISS music! (Knights In Satins Service) LOL!!!!!!!

Thought I read it might be a widebody Hellcat, allowing larger tires.

I doubt very much it will be AWD, seeing as they can't find a way of making the SRT Grand Cherokee hold together with the Hellcat motor. Although to be honest, my girlfriends SRT Jeep leaps off the line as it is. Can't imagine another couple hundred horsepower added to the mix!

rumors of 850hp, wide-body & NO AWD

Bad B-rad

It is going to need the wide body with larger tires to get all that power to the ground.850hp SWEET
I still can't afford it.

Same here, I'll be watching this show from the cheap seats. :icon_smile_big:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

I was a the dealership a week ago to order mud/slush mats for my new Charger R/T and I was asking about ordering a Hellcat or SRT8 hood for my car,and wanted to see each in person before I placed the order. So  the parts guy and I go out to the lot, and guess what,NO SRT Chargers,4 Hellcats, but no SRT's. So we go back in and I get talking to a salesman,to see if they have any SRT's coming in in next few days,he told me they have a few more Hellcats coming in but no SRT's on order. He goes on to tell me how they are selling Hellcat Challengers like CRAZY. Can't even keep them in stock. He said people are even leasing them, and trading in brand new cars and loosing thousands to get a Hellcat, that it is like the best investment car around because of how it will hold its value, that you can own it for 3 or 4 years and then sell it and it will still be in the $60k's value wise.
If they are selling so may Hellcats. Then they will have a TON of pissed off people if the DEMON is got more power, because they will no longer have the fastest toy on the block. just my opinion. I would be pissed if I just plunked down my hard earned cash for a Hellcat and now they have a Demon with bigger tires and over 100 more stock HP!(If that is what the Demon is)
Hell I'am  mad that for another grand or so I could have had a Scat pack(6.4Hemi) Charger vs the off the lot new R/T my wife "had to have."

If "those people" are losing a ton of $ in their trade ins just to get a Hellcat, then theyre probably dumb enough to do it again to get a Demon.

I generally have no sympathy for people who buy cars as an "investment".

That's funny.  4200 lbs is the lightweight version.

Maybe they finally ditched the iron engine block.  They've been stubbornly insisting that it was necessary up to now.

JB400

From their latest release, it said they installed lighter weight wheels, seats, and the chassis a little bit to get to the 200 lb. reduction

Yup, it's still ridiculously heavy, no doubt.

The HP is cool and all, but it still weighs the same as one of these. :icon_smile_big:

That is why, in the highly populated Roman Catholic country of Mexico, it wasn't even allowed to be sold at all let alone be discontinued...

These days they could advertise the 2018 Toyota Serial Killer GT and nobody would bat an eye.

I'd assume that not many people know what Diablo means being that it's Italian.

I dunno know how i feel about it aesthethically. The hood with the wide scoop and fender flares look like what some kid would put together with ebay aftermarket parts.

Here is how it was lightened up,  the total reduction number is 232 pounds. :2thumbs:

First, the Challenger Demon will have a unique steering column assembly which is four pounds lighter than the one in the Hellcat. SRT also removed the parking sensor system, to trim another two pounds.

Changes to the braking system including smaller rotors (from 390mm to 360mm) and calipers (6 pistons to 4) cut 16 pounds, the new 18″ wheels cut 16 pounds, a removal of some sound insulation and other "NVH" components cuts 18 pounds, lightweight suspension components cut 19 pounds, the removal of the spare tire/trunk materials cuts another 20 pounds and a scaled down audio system cuts 24 pounds.

Finally, the biggest weight cuts in the Challenger SRT Demon comes in the way of the seats – or the lack there of. The Demon doesn't come from the factory with a rear seat (cutting 55 pounds) or a passenger seat  :eek2: (cutting 58 pounds).  That's the biggest factor in the 232-pound diet: 113 pounds of seats.

I agree, that's what alot of my fox Mustang friends used to do at the track they would pull the passenger seat out and lay it on the ground !

JR

They took a page from Porsche's playbook by removing parts of the car and then charging you more for it.

I would find it hilarious if they make the seats an optional extra, and you have to may more money to get them back.   :smilielol:

If they pull it off though, it is an absolutely brilliant business model. So insanely stupid that it's genius.

Weird about no passenger seat.. i wonder why they didnt then, remove the passenger sun visor, interior controls and hvac parts

i also wonder if it will still have 2 cup holders up front  :smilielol:

If youre buying an 800 hp car, youre not getting it to cruise around and trying to cop a feel using the "short stop" move. Its not supposed to be practical.

I disagree. I would love to have a Hellcat/Demon just to cruise around in and on occasion WOT. If it was me I would install a passenger seat, weight be dammed.

I heard a passenger seat may be an option.
