shame  they are only going to offer a  siamese  block  , i'm no/ far from an expert , but don't look like enough holes in the valley for oil drain back / to help lube the cam lobes , for a flat tappet cam &  real street use ,  think desgined for a roller deal only   :scratchchin:  I await to be corrected   :scratchchin:      :yesnod::popcrn:

that block is fine for street use, the oil drain holes are not a cam lubricating issue, the oil from the crank & rods slings plenty of oil around, edm lifters are also great.
they deleted the holes for block strength & to keep oil from draining on top of the crank & robbing HP.

I've wondered why we haven't been getting a Hemi+wedge block for years.

It looks like a great item except for the mass.  There's no way that thing weighs less than 300 lbs.

My thoughts exactly. It's gotta weigh more for sure... Is the trade-off worth it though??

Pretty soon it will be hard to get a decent 383 builder. You might laugh at that and think that will never happen, but it happened here in Aus with some of our local engines. Heaps of them around when you don't need them, but none around when you want one and eventually becoming like hens teeth.

These are 50-year-old engines.  Can you imagine if it was 1990 and people were griping that a decent rebuildable 1940 engine was starting to cost more than a few tanks of gas?  Anything that is still in this kind of demand 50 years later should be getting reproduced.

If you care about handling/cornering there is no amount of power that excuses a repro (iron) block's weight.  You just don't use a 300-lb block, period.  The option is completely off the table.

None of that would be a huge frustration if Mopar was mass producing a hi-po alloy-block V8.   But they haven't caught up to the 1990s yet.

Not so easy to find in the US anymore either- the scrap yards have pretty much recycled everything pre 1990's.

ok right  , really never knew that ,
well ! I knew they got some , by all the slinging around going on down there ,  yes I keep forgetting about those EMD lifters , for solid tappet cams  , think they are a brilliant idea .
going off track a little , usless bit of info , the last  comp cams I   fitted , ( did have it on the shelf in stock  for a good few years ) i instructions , is said if you have a windage tray , remove it before breaking in the cam ..... now have fitted com camps  cams before &  i'm pretty sure that never mentioned the windage tray deal
