Flex plate bolt torque. ARP vs stock?

I installed a new B&M flex plate and Hughes torque converter in the 440.  The ARP pack 7/16-20 bolts say to tighten 55ft pds. FSM says 270 in pds which is less than half.  Granted the stock bolts were smaller but does the 55ft pds seem too much in comparison?  Just wanna be certain before I tightening up

I would also use a little loctite on the threads to stop them from backing out

Thanks guys.  Those 12point heads make you either buy a tool or get creative to install them.  I had to get creative or buy another set  with a regular hex.

I've never used a torque wrench on TC bolts, just "good n tight" with red Loctite.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
