Carter M6903 mechanical fuel pump pressure

Santa brought me one of these pumps.  I wanted to get rid of my pressure regulator that exists because the current Carter HV pump that I have been running for twenty years puts out too much pressure.  The carb is a Holley 750 DP and from what I've read, should be happy at about six pounds.  Mancini lists this pump at 5.5 o 6.5 pounds, which would be perfect.  But, Summit lists the same pump at 5.5 to 7.5.  If it actually exceeds 6.5, I probably will keep the regulator in the circuit.  Does anyone have some real world experience with this pump?  What kind of pressure does it really put out?

My holley ran fine for years at 7-8 psi. Dont sweat it.

Much more then that and you can overrun the needle and seats.

I had a Carter 6903 that put out 13 psi...changed to a black spring and it still put out 11 psi.

I have ran the 6903 carter pump for years on my big blocks with no regulator. From my experience it should be fine without a regulator.

Of course, if you really want to know what pressure your mechanical pump produces..... Just check it with a gauge.

Not to worry guys.  I've always had a gauge permanently in the line since I put the regulator in.  I plan to keep it.  Just want to get rid of the regulator.......
