I have a 440 with a RPM performer Intake and a Proform carb. I am wondering do I have the under hood clearance to run a Oval Air Cleaner assy with this combination? (The car is a '69 Charger)

Unlikely? The Performer RPM usually requires a drop base air cleaner to clear the stock hood. Can you get an oval drop base?

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

I thought I might have to run a drop base. Where do I find a 4 bbl oval air cleaner assy????? I can cut and weld the base to suit my needs.

If using the Mopar oval bases you'll have to cut out about 3" depending on the filter size for it to clear. A little more if you have a hood pad.

Here's mine.

Nice work Red 69.

Agreed!

Red 69 where did you pick up your air cleaner. I cannot seem to locate a four barrel version.

I have no experience in modding an oval base but the OEM does have a deep velocity area entering the carb that extends pretty close to the lid. the modded one in the prior posts looks great...just cautioning to make sure any mods you do dont get any closer to the lid than the OEM. a carb with no choke horn should help the air entering with a close clearance mod. Just be careful. Carb bowl vents too close to the lid will create mysterious issues. You can cut the vents shorter if you need to. I have personal experience with this issue from a 360 with an old super modified X-style torker with carb spacer and 14" drop base air cleaner...but it was also a 7000+RPM engine.

I got mine from Mike over at BEA Parts. A little pricey though.
