Up here, the junkyards are smart about these cars. Anything Mopar 2 door is snatched up and never makes it to the yard.

So.... I stopped and talked to them today. The owner wasn't there but his "homeboy" (his words not mine) was. It is for sale and the owner wants $15,000.

Add him to the list of other delusional sellers. :loser: :ahum: :moon: :icon_bs: :flush: :coocoo:  :faint: :image_294343: :pigsfly:

I'm sure he knows he'll never get $15K, he probably isn't interested in selling it and has had a lot of people asking about it, so he threw out a high number. I would've left a written offer ($2,500) with my phone # attached saying I have cash and a trailer ready, call anytime. Chances are he'll need quick cash one day, or the city will give him a deadline to get it off the street. $2,500 would be on the low side of fair, so room to negotiate. Judging by the car is sitting in the street and the neighborhood and that his "homeboy" answered the door, you can be sure he got it for less than that and probably doesn't have a title.
Belvedere's were a high trim option in the 50's, in the 60's they were the lowest, I don't think you could even get one in a hardtop.

FWIW, I just bought a '68 Coronet 2 door hardtop for $4,000. It's been off the road for 10 years and needs a trunk pan and a quarter skin, but runs and drives with fairly nice interior.
If it ain't broke, fix it 'till it is.

"Homeboy"
I'm surprised it doesn't have big rims on it, some dubs. Or whatever those are called these days.

I do not see any sign in the window of the car saying FOR SALE
I do see a car sitting with 4 tires that hold air and license plates on it (not sure if they are current but it seems to have a sticker)
If the car is sitting in front of owners house how can anyone give him grief for it being there
Lots of times I have been asked how much $$ to sell some of my stuff
I always give a number of about twice what it is worth just to chase them away  :2thumbs:

The dude you talked to is probably laughing with the owner saying " Hey had another guy ask about your car today , should have seen his face when I said $15000  :hah: :hah: "

i honestly thought belvederes were only 4 doors. Ive never actually seen a 2 door in the wild or even at a car show. theyre all Satellites, GTXs or RR's..but no belvederes. Are they rare or did they all just get junked?

I do it all the time. Weeds out all the stoplight and gas station Richard Rawlings / Count of Cars wannabes who a) dont really have the $ or b) assume you dont know what you have and intend to make you an insultingly low offer.

My car is in the $10-15k range. But im not trying to sell, so i usually say something like "$25k might get me talking". I mean, if they bite at that point...

Exactly what I was thinking.

Soon the owner of the Belvedere will see his car on the forum in a discussion about how he's a greedy bastard and there will be 16 pages of name calling and Troy will have to lock the thread.

Based on Nacho's "build list" the Belv wasn't offered in a 2 door post (coupe - rear flip outs), is this a RRunner??  :coolgleamA:

actually I think you read it wrong or incomplete.. No Belvs Hardtops, just coupes ( last column far right ), so perfect for a B pillar RR clone

A Belvedere is a Satellite is a Road Runner is a GTX...   same basic body.   You "could" clone it into anything you want.

As a running car... it's probably a 318 with an outside chance it's a 383 2 bbl.   But to build a performance car you'd probably end up throwing out the entire drive train.

$5K maybe tops ( it appears mostly rust free from the pics. ) ???     $15K nope nope nope.

thats real, but being a coupe, better ( for actual parts on car and cost, ) keep it on that way and clone on something built on that setup... RR fits perfect.

Don't forget that they were also slant six cars, so you'd need to swap over a ton of other parts if that's what it has.
