Dodge wants to get back into NASCAR. Sergio Marchionne, the CEO of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles -- the parent company of Dodge -- confirmed the news Sunday. Marchionne was at Daytona International Speedway as part of the Ferrari Challenge World Finals, which wrapped up Sunday. FCA owns Ferrari, and Marchionne is CEO of that brand.

When asked if he wanted to see Dodge back in NASCAR, he didn't hesitate.

"Yes I'd love to," he said. "I talked to Jim France (executive vice-president of NASCAR) about this just last night."

Technically speaking, they didn't say what model they would run, if they got back in...

They were running Challengers in Xfinity, and I would like to see them run Challengers in the cup series too.

Glad they're thinking about it.  Hopefully it happens, probably would be a year or two.

And will there be teams that want to make the switch.  :scratchchin:

People are tripping all over Sergio's comments.  If there is one thing that Sergio loves, it is the sound of his own voice.    He is a narcissist of the first order.

He really said nothing, other than "it would be nice to be back".    Yet he says killed the program.    He killed the Viper race program the day after they won the title.

What Sergio did not say is who would pay for everything.  The Dodge dealers covered the cost of the last go 'round.    The other question is, "Who are the teams that would come back to Dodge for start-up program?"     The teams won't do it on their dime.   You think it's any cheaper now compared to when they pulled out?     It would be very expensive.

It would be nice to have Dodge back.  But I think this talk is nothing more than "making nice" for the media at a company event at Daytona.

They're going to be allowed to run Fiat 500's with Hellcat engines?

maybe they'll bring back the stupid crosshair grill and over heat all the dodge cars with how much debris they pickup...   again   :nana:
