I can relate to the throttle return spring as well. As the kickdown / throttle linkage was rubbing on the bottom of the drop base air cleaner I have . pretty simple fix.

question about the vaccum canister. If start car let it idle and then shut it off. I should have some reserved vacuum for a pump of the breaks when the car is off ?
