New seats and carpet

Finally pulled the trigger and bought a set of Procar Rally 1000's for my '69. Obviously the original seats just don't have any lateral support and I find that I'm constantly bracing myself so I'm not sliding around. I know member MYK has them in his Charger and really likes them, so I thought I'd give it a try. My biggest concern was the universal B Body bracket that some say fits perfect while most say it doesn't and needs to be modified or new holes drilled. Mine didn't fit, but I only had to drill 2 holes on each side near the the originals. While I was at it, I decided to replace the carpet at the same time (why not right?). The carpet has turned out to be more time consuming than the seats and also more painful....Sliced my thumbnail all the way through from front to back  :brickwall:
I'm still working on the project but wanted to post some pictures of the progress.

Finished up the passenger seat and did the final carpet trim this afternoon. Can't wait to take it out for a drive  ;D
As a bonus I found the shift light under the center console had fallen out of the hole. I didn't even know it was supposed to light up!

So...

Just how skinny does a person have to be to fit in your new seats ?  :shruggy:

They look tiny.  :scope:

I am 5'10" and 195. I fit great in the 2005 Neon SRT 4 seats that I put in my Charger.
I LOVE having modern seats in the old car. The 1970 seats were better than the previous models but still lacked the lateral support to keep me in place while cornering. The car was so much more capable than the stock seats were.
Nice work, OP. Looks nice!

Charger_Fan

Those look pretty nice! Are they leather or vinyl?
I think if I were to buy a pair, I'd want some with the side supports about half that tall on the bottom. Mainly because I'd rather not have to "climb" out of them each time I wanted to exit the car. But that's just me. :)

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Do you have any pictures of the SRT-4 seats in your Charger? How were they to install? I have a SRT-4 and have an extra set of ACR edition SRT-4 seats..... :scratchchin:

Mine are vinyl, but I think there's a leather version for twice the price.

The SRT4 seats were an easy install except that I had to made adapter brackets myself. I started with the driver side, getting it square and level. Each of the 4 brackets were unique because of the way the floor pan is shaped. I used 1 1/4" X 2 1/2" .90 wall box steel. The seats fit and the brackets bolt through to the stock holes. I'll see if I can find and post the pictures.

These show the seats in place. I can't seem to find any pictures of the brackets.

I have the exact same looking seat in mine.
Mine are Scat Leather seats that was installed back when it was restored 16 years ago, but look the same.
You will LOVE them!  They hold you in place so well when turning corners.
Looks great

Thank  you!

The car Feels so much better to drive with modern seats. These cost $350 for the pair. I spent about $30 to make the brackets.

I had Snayk Oyl 3 point seat belts but replaced them with XV Motorsports 3 points with a bracket that mounts to the roof. This drops the angle of the belt to allow it to cross my chest instead of my neck or face. These are certainly a must for anyone 5'7 or under!

I was very close to buying Corbeau seats. I liked the fit and size plus the ones I liked were also manual adjustment to save weight. These are manual and actually weigh less than the stock seats!  The only possible drawback is that because they are from a 4 door car, they do not fold forward as far as they could for rear seat access. Lucky for me, they slide far enough on the tracks to get back there. A 300+ Lb person may have trouble getting back there.
