70 charger brake booster

I change my defect brake booster with a original refurbist 8,5" midland ross.Its HD drums all over.Now i have brakes from hell.only a light pressure on the pedal locks the wheels instanly.Any tips to Get normal brakes again?

The rebuilt power brake booster is defective.

...did you have the reservoir apart? Did you bench bleed it before install??

I just removed the mc from the booster and change the booster.

You need to adjust the booster pushrod, remove the master from the booster measure the depth of the masters piston/bore from it's mounting base, measure from the the boosters face where the master mounts, to the tip of the exposed booster's pushrod, do the math, you need .020 to .060 max airgap clearance for proper piston travel/pedal travel/booster activation

Thanks for the info.I did not check this before installation.this gap is before engine start/booster activation?

I have a 75 Dart booster on my 70 Charger but the principle is the same. That pushrod had too much slack in my setup. It was a trial and error procedure getting it just right. I was aiming for immediate response with very little pedal travel and at first I had it too tight. The brakes started to drag and almost locked up before I could get the car back home!
