Pro Comp Custom's 1970 Charger from SEMA

Well, SEMA came and went with no mention of this car on here, so I thought I'd share. It's a radically modified 70 Charger 500 with a 745 horse NASCAR engine, and the bodywork has been heavily modified. The roof was chopped, and some other radical metalwork was done.

Normally I draw the line and changing/modifying sheet metal, but this is a pretty cohesive build.

Love it or hate it, here it is.

I do like the front valance. It fits tighter around the bumper. The section work on the body is not immediately noticeable until looking at the stock and modified doors side by side.

DAY CLONA

One of those builds where a lot of close attention to detail and work was performed, unfortunately those involved forgot to take a step back and realize the abomination they had created, one man's opinion...

I saw that on Mike Finnegan's Instagram.  Not a fan of custom bodywork on Chargers.  Dodge got it right back in 1968, no need to "improve".

A body chop. Why? :rotz:

Agreed, the 2nd gen Chargers lines and proportions are near "perfect", very little to be improved on....now had this been a 71-4 Charger, then a sectioning of the body would have been an improvement over that 2 liter Coke bottle design

all that custom work and they couldn't get the body lines straight! lots of details were overlooked on this one ...looks like a rush job for sema.having said that it has some interesting designs

nother one of these custom , second generation chargers , that have had un tolled hours of  time   money spent on them  , some clever fabrication  work , those guys have skills  :yesnod:     , interesting ideas   :scratchchin: :-\ ,   not for me though     still  each to their own

maybe its me  ! maybe its a age thing , most / nearly all  of these custom  second generation  chargers  , to me seemed to be designed with a miss match of parts & ideas ...  just like someone building a car with know idea what they are doing :shruggy:  examble  dry sump nascar motor  , with air bag suspension , & looking at the interior shot  , what looks to be space for a  TV in the dash .... seems like its what a 5 year old would draw or design on a computer game ... only needs rocket launchers & or  a flux capacitor , maybe both ....

I quite like it even though it's not very pretty and I've seen one hell of a lot worst done to a B body. And let's face it it's hard to make the front of a 70 any uglier......so they just left that bit! Please don't hit me...least not in the face! Lol!

The front end seems to be the best part of this car.  The rest, not so much.

Not for me, looks like a crack in the tig welding on the top rad hose connection.

Heavy changes to the 2nd-gen shape = FAIL

You like the factory race cars, don't cha?

RCCDrew

Overall, I like it. I like how the nose curves down to the front more than stock. I thought the section would make the car look too long, but I think it works. A Charger that sits as low as a Ferrari. The rear bumper is hideous. The RT scoops are shorter than I would like, but looks necessary on a sectioned car.
At least they didn't do 68 tail lights on a 70, or a Torino grille, or a Viper hood, or an LS!!!  I have seen all of the abominations and this isn't as bad.

They do nice work. I had them repair the bottom of my doors. They were the only ones that could Match my lacquer paint job

Not in the sense of styling alone.

The C500s were not a styling improvement.  The wing cars would be ridiculed in this hobby if they had been somebody's backyard project and not a NASCAR thing.

The aero cars were cool for being so uncompromising & fast but the stock bodies were prettier.  That's why the factory didn't start making aero cars as the standard design until they were forced into it by MPG rules over time.

Don't like the swoopy back end at all. Other than that it looks like another custom car

Changing the proportions of a gen 2 Charger is playing with fire. Both from the top and the sides it mimics the perfect female shape with a narrow waist and nice hips. The way it was originally styled is on the money in my opinion. Lower it, rake it,put some fat tires under it on some nice wheels. fiddle with the peripheral details if you wish but leave the perfection of those body proportions alone. Please.

TexasStroker

Some nice touches...

Would like to see the dash and console (interior really) in a completed stage.  Searched and only came up with this:
