I'm looking for a new suspension set up and I just dont know what direction to go. What are the advantages of a Hotchkis kit over say an RMS 4link front and rear (other than price). Im looking for more an of nice ride than an auto-x setup. This is gonna be a street car 100% of the time but i always dont want the car to continue handling like a boat. Additionally if I went with a hotchkis kit I would need to upgrade my steering system.

What do you currently have? (ie if it's stock, what drive train?)

For a street car, the factory HD parts with polyurethane bushings and bigger sway bars is probably more than enough.

I have the Hotchkis setup for one car (that isn't drivable). I mainly got it because it doesn't require any modifications to the car, I wanted really good shocks, and they had a 20% off Christmas special if you bought a whole kit. I could have built something similar through Firm Feel.

RMS and a 4-link is beyond overkill for your stated purpose.

The stiffest suspension in the world won't help if you don't stiffen the body first.

When I restored my 68 R/T clone a few years ago i also decided to do a few upgrades to help with handling and body roll. I installed sub frame connectors, tubular UCA's, re-enforcing plates on the LCA's and a big front sway bar. Out back I changed nothing, factory leafs and Gabriel Hi-jackers.
At the time I also had a 71 with a 383 with a front sway bar and a 72 with a 318, no sway bar. The 68 rode about the same as the other Chargers but when it came to body roll and corning the 68 absolutely killed the other two.
I have since sold the 71 to fund my latest money pit. I am doing the same mods to the Daytona clone. I think it's the best bang for the buck if you are talking street driven.
If you are looking for a smoother ride I would think you would need to look at an entire suspension upgrade.

Variations of this question come up on a regular basis.  Do a search.  

The standard recommendation boils down to this:  stiffen the unibody, upgrade the springs + shocks + sways, and run a decent condition steering box with increased caster alignment over stock.  

Moderate upgrades to everything is a better approach than severe changes in a few places.

          What type of sub frame connectors did you use ?? I am figuring on using US Cartool's on my sled.

Suggestions on steering boxes?

Hey Al.  Yes I used the sub frame connectors from US Car Tool. I replaced the floors in both Chargers first since they both had the FF option. (Fred Flinstone). I had to massage each piece a bit to get them to fit, but they are nice units. You will need to drill a hole in the driver side one for the e-brake cable. Before I installed them I brushed on a nice coat of SEM rust inhibitor on the insides.

CB. I went with a Firm Feel Stage III steering box on my 68.

I've had the 68 on the road for three summers now and I'm really happy with every aspect on the way it handles.

I just installed a FirmFeel Stage III steering box and now my Charger steers tight like a new car.   :2thumbs:

Bilstein shocks are the biggest bang for your buck.  Also, a big front sway bar is very helpful.  You can get both at PST.

Why not do the subframes yourself?  Or have a local muffler shop weld them in?  This is how I did mine, really stiffened up the car so it is very solid now and 1/3 of the cost of and aftermarket parts.
