Any recommendations on a 1 wire alternator with internal regulator? 1974 charger
My regulators periodically go bad, about twice a year.
Until I figure out the problem I would like to covert to an alternator with internal regulator

My latest regulator died while driving. I could see the anmeter starting the fluctuate and then buried itself to charge position within seconds.

Hi,

Going through two regulators a year makes me think there is some type of problem going to a one wire alternator may not solve. If you have been buying cheaper Chinese regulators that may be the problem . Many chain store auto parts places sell $8.00 cheapo regulators that will indeed quickly fail. I would try a good high quality regulator, these sell in the $20 to $35  range including an original Mopar part which is still available. My 71 is 45 years -old and is only on its second regulator. The second replacement is a Mopar part and is well over 30 years-old.
