Anyone else experience a tight fit with their set up? What did you do?

68 charger freak

All the chargers that I have seen with GV have had the floor massaged
68 charger, pro touring build ,mini tub,528 wedge,magnum-xl 6 speed,rms alterkation,martz 4 link,moser 8.75,custom interior

Kern Dog

Also, the car was sitting level instead of laying sideways like in the above picture.  :nana:

I've been doing alot of reading about this swap since I'll soon being doing it as well. I've read there are two spots that have to be massaged with a hammer to get it to fit just right.

Thanks, I guess I'll break out the hammer.

Not sure why the picture tilted. It's up right on my computer...?

Probably had your mouse sideways when you clicked to add it

Mine fit perfect, it is tight but only mod to floorpan was for  the 90degree speedometer cable adapter.
Welded an flat body hammer head on an air hammer shaft and it moved it pretty easy, was hard at first since it was all just freshly painted.
Was well worth it though, love split shifting. Just need to find a ball with a button that will work with stock 69 charger shifter( auto)

Anyone out there combine it with an Alterkation suspension?

pandamarie

Qi have magnum force front suspension XHD tubular set up on front and unlawful racing 4 link on rear all coil over.
Gear vendor OD does not interfere with any of it.

AFD 792

Pandamarie, did you use the stock transmission mount?

Kern Dog

Shoot, if I were to switch away from torsion bars, (Never will) I'd have no problem cutting and modifying the trans tunnel to run a decent OD automatic. The Gear Vendors setup is a crutch with the extreme cantilever design and minimal RPM reduction. If it had something in the .65 range instead of .78, I'd be more impressed.

.78 is still better than 1.00.... just sayin.
