Fixed yoke housing and Driveshaft ???'s

Just picked up a Gear Vendors and didnt realize until after I payed the guy that the tail housing is setup for a fixed yoke like in a truck. Has anyone had good success with a driveshaft with the slip in the shaft itself vs in the tail housing? Are those strong setups?

I figure it'll be cheaper to build a new D shaft this way then to pay GV to replace the whole rear housing.
