Well I got this for the C500.  The 500 came with an 8-track player that I will list/sell later-on, and those usually pull $200ish, so I figured I'm paying 170 more instead of a resto shop fee...  Good theory?   (written feedback appreciated).

I was watching that auction, LOL.  If you want to get rid of the Zeppelin 8-tracks, let me know.  :icon_smile_cool:

I'd say you did great. I know the am/fms go for $500+.The old radios aren't cheap, even the plain ams are getting expen$ive.

I'm not a stocker type dude, I just think 8-tracks are cool.  It adds to the vintage flavor.  Mine's got a disco ball hanging from the rearview, I have an old v-gate shifter for it, trying to find an old stewart-warner mechanical tach, and looking for the 8-track player, too.

It's gonna have an Indy-headed 499 under the hood, though.  :icon_smile_cool:

I got about the same amount last year for a used one that I had serviced (new belt as the old one dry rotted, lubed, tested, cleaned) that was clean, but missing the eject buttom knob. The guy was pleased to have got it for that as well!

Neal_J

I watched the auction.  If the problem is the belt, you did well.  If it needs more work, and you bought it as-is, you might be hosed.

Fingers crossed,

Neal

I wouldn't think that was too much to pay. I'm always on the look out for a decently priced AM/FM for my 500, but to date no such luck.

I would paid that for an AM/FM 8 tracks I think...

But anyway, still not bad. I think is not excesivelly out of range.

I never knew there was a 1968-1970 AM-FM 8 Track.

I never knew there was a 1968-1970 AM-FM 8 Track.

There was one available every year.  I have personally had two '69s and one '70 that had the 8-track and 3-speaker dash...

I know AM 8 tracks were available, but AM FM 8 track?

69_500

I believe that the 8 track for 1969 and 1970 was an AM 8 Track player, not an AM/FM 8 track.

Oh yeah, no kidding (mis-speak)...  Actually I missed what Nacho said...  I've never heard of a FM one at all...  Has anyone else?

RAWPWR

I saw one on ebay going for $680.00 at the time..Anyway my 68 owners manual says it's 8-track with Stereo phonic sound. Basically all 3 speakers in the dash with fad left to right and one in the back deck with a fader front to back.

IIRC you could only get the AM/FM with 8-track in Full-Size Chryslers in '69.  The '69 parts book shows one under P/N 2884607, but it shows no such option in any B-Bodies - only the SolidState AM w/ Stereo 8-track.

Jude, I think you did fine with whatcha paid for that.  Could have been a lot worse, as I've seen guys paying way more than that for nice AM/FM radios.
