Just thought I'd post this for people who wanted more info on the V21.  It was in an article on trim options that Galen Govier did for Mopar Muscle magazine in 1994.  See pictures attached.

I think mine was the first Galen had ever seen.  I called him as soon as I read this article.  I then sent him a pencil rubbing of my data plate, copy of my broadcast sheet and this picture (1994).  He verified that it was the real deal.  Winged Warriors eventually sent me a print showing the stripes as well.

Very Cool! I don't think I ever remember seeing one from back I the day. I guess with around 700 or so total made in '69 that would explain why. Cool option.

if you suspect a car might be a v21 car but is  missing the fender tag or broadcast sheet ,you might still have some luck on  authenticating it . A few year ago I worked at a restoration shop that that did a full restoration on a original  rt,se with the v21 hood package. When we removed the original headliner a tag with v21 scribbled, fell down it was wired to the roof structure. I guess it was used by the paint guys in the assembly line... hers a pic of my dad's car with the v21 hood . I'll try to dig up some pics of the v21 rt,se with the original trunk rack option

I learned about the '69 V21 through Just Chris.  He found old pix (schematic?) of how the call out followed the cowl & mentioned how rare it was.  Good stuff then & now.  :2thumbs:

Wow didn't even know there was a luggage rack option  :2thumbs:

Pretty rare for '69 as well as the V21.  Even more rare are the J45 Hood Pins....Great stuff guys!

I would have thought more '70 Charger R/T's with the V21 would have been made compared to the '69 Charger R/T's. More shocking is that the non R/T V21 numbers are higher.
I guess more people add the V21 stripes to the '70s  :shruggy:

Ahhh yes, Lee was very nice to share.  I had no hood to go by or much of anything left on the cowl.  He sent me a tracing too.  :2thumbs:  Thanks Lee (again 15 yrs later, lol).

I promote and would like to see that sunroof website have a tab to go to V21 Chargers too.  Those two options are both great options and sorta comparable when looking at options.   Can someone help make that happen?

Interesting to see the varied V21 produced in 69 although those higher numbers seem like we would see more of them around.  I guess I was wrong on the earlier numbers of like 230 plus the 30 whatever to Canada.

Any V21 optioned black '69s out there?

personally not heard or seen one fwiw.  I would say I have watched them for nearly 20yrs and the darkest color I recall seeing optioned with V21 would be B5 and R4 and that is not very dark.  Mostly lighter colors from there.

Sure would be interesting though, but black on black seems more like a modern trend imo.

darkest I had in the Registry was one F8 green and one T5 Copper

I talked to a serious Mopar collector years ago, and he told he remembered looking at a 73 or 74 Challenger Rallye brand new on a car lot back in the day. It was a black car with the black strobe stripes. He had to bend down and touch it because he didn't believe it at first. Yes, black on black is definitely more modern, but you never know!

Just wanted to add a note about V21 on the 72 Rallye Chargers...

The VIN does not state whether the car is real, and the Rallye package code (A57) is sometimes found on fender tags, sometimes it isn't. Unless you have the build sheet, it's very hard to identify a true 72 Rallye as the doors, hoods and tailights often get snapped off these cars. If the fender tag says V21 (but does not say A57 for Rallye) then it is a Rallye car, because the Rallye was the only model in 1972 that you could get the hood treatment on.
