Out of curiosity, why do you say it's a BAD fender tag?

DixieRestoParts

Dodge and Plymouth, did not allow 440,  4-spd and a/c. It was a warranty issue. They were afraid of the RV2 compressor exploding during over revs, downshifts, etc. The original owner of my F3 R/T SE wanted both and Dodge told him to choose. He chose the 4-spd.  :2thumbs:

I haven't looked up any of the numbers on the data plate yet, but I see an 8-3/4 rear when it should be a Dana 60 with a 4-speed car as well.

LeesRT

After scoping the data plate out, I think the car has a wrong data plate.  I think it was a 440 auto car with A/C and someone added the 4-speed later on.  The data plate would probably have an A06 code for A/C I believe.  That's just my 2 cents in the 5 minutes I've looked at this.

Vehicle numbers aside......

There are a lot of things wrong/incorrect on this car.  This was a very rusty ride before panels were "slapped" on it....

I have heard this before as an explanation, but then I have to ask... Why then, could you get a 383 4-spd with a/c?  :shruggy:

I think it was also an issue on the power side during acceleration
& because the torque curve of the 383 did NOT have the acceleration capability in a 3,500lb+ car (most 383 4-spd cars are 3.23 geared & A/C was NOT available w/3.91s, ALL e/b-body 440 4-spd cars are 3.54 or 4.10)

Wingnut426

I read somewhere A/C cars would not get stiffer gears than 3:23s because the engine would wind up to fast and throw the belts.  :Twocents:  WINGNUT
