'68 Charger at Aussie Mopar track day

Recently our club (Charger Club of Western Australia) held its annual track day at a small circuit 2.5 hours south of Perth. I normally take my Valiant, and last year when I took the '68 it was super wet and I lost a converter bolt. This year, the '68 was running on-song and we had dry weather so I got to really push it to the limit! 440/727 is not the combo you think of for a track car but it was surprisingly quick, so quick that I scored Driver of the Day.

The '68 has completely stock suspension, air shocks in rear and normal driver shocks in front with factory sway bar. Stock front discs/rear drums too so I was backing off early to save the brakes - getting massive shudder when I heated them up too much.

Now, the good stuff - pics and video.

Here's a front quarter panel shot that really picked up the suspension and tyres copping a workout:

In-car shot on last run of the day so I was getting a bit loose for the hell of it!

External track footage of me and a stroked big block Challenger - some good sideways action towards the end of the clip:

A different in-car shot from first run of the day, the go-pro ripoff struggled with the lighting though.

Although it was a handful I reckon it was more enjoyable than doing it in something built for cornering.

I have more pics and videos to come of the other Mopars racing.

that looks like fun if your not too fussed about originality, a rear stabilizer from a falcon el ,ef or au fits on the charger. got one from the wreckers for $30 put it on my 70 charger, big improvement.

I will probably get something for it eventually but focusing on finishing my other Charger (Valiant) which will be better setup for circuit stuff with big front and rear sway bars etc.

Going to look into the falcon bar option in the meantime though!

Awesome videos! Looks like a lot of fun. I plan on bringing my 69 to Sears Point, just need to stop the clutch from slipping.

Did she overheat on you at anytime?
