Has anyone seen these odd fuel tank hoses/vent lines before? Must be a late 70 thing or CA emissions? See it on a 70 charger yesterday. Its hard to see the pipes they are behind that undercoated cover.

Sorry for the small pic, it wouldn't let me load a larger one.

Same thing I had on my car. Most don't know it but part of the set up was a extra hose going to your 3 nipple breather instead of usual 1 or 2 nipple breather & extra hose to vent top of california emission carb & gas tank actually consisted of 4 seperate chambers or 4 little tanks on top of existing tank that went to the 4 hoses & tube in gas tank & had a return line to gas tank, ect, ect. All part if the N95 California emission Known as ECS (evapoartive control system) among other names. LEON.

Pic of mine below. Notice factory original yellow paint inspection mark on trunk tube. LEON.

Are those supposed to be factory yellow leaf springs too ???    :nana:

hemi-hampton

The leaf springs were painted in 70's or early 80's. Had big mickey thompson N-50's & Cragar ss wheels on it when I bought it. The Cragars & painting the leaf springs or rear end or gas tank ect, ect was the popular thing to do in the 70's & early 80's. I guess you don't remember the old days. How old are you. Car went into Storage like that in 1982. 34 years later still has the yellow leaf springs & Traction bars ect. LEON.

What's that funk flat metal bracket for that runs from the side of the frame rail down to (what appears to be) the bottom of the quarter?    :shruggy:

That flat metal bracket is a guard to protect the rubber hoses from damage. My 70 has this setup.
Leon: The painted leaf spring comment was a joke. You commented on the factory yellow inspection mark on the emission tube. I went a bit further.
Yes, I remember seeing cars with oddly painted under body parts. I'm probably not much younger than you. Born in the U.S.A in 1965, about 5 years and a month before my car!  :2thumbs:

hemi-hampton

I thought maybe you were being sarcastic or joking but wasn't sure because alot of times when you are talking to somebody younger & their are some younger people in here in there 20's & 30's they have no clue what your talking about when you talk about things from the 70's or 80's.

Yep, Cali emissions. I still have it all on my Charger.

Interesting. My 1970 Charger was built to be a Dealer Demo. car destined for California and it didn't come with any of that stuff. Although it did have the turned down exhaust tailpipes (no chrome tips).

Edit: I may be wrong about this car being built for California. See Post #20 below.

Yes I have the fender tag, two broadcast sheets, and if I remember correctly it was built in Sept. 1969. Not sure what you mean by SPD.

I may have to retract my earlier statement about my Charger being built to be a California car. I just went through all info. on the car and I don't see anything about California in the info. The build sheet shows code 03 for left tailpipe and 10 for right tailpipe (no chrome tips). Somewhere along the line I must have gotten the impression that because it was an R/T with no chrome tips it was built for California.
FWIW The SPD (Code A27) was Monday October 27, 1969.
And to answer your question about restoration, yes I restored it 21 years ago. I bought it from the original owner (a good friend) in the fall of 1975. It was an unmolested original.

Does it have the N95 option on Fender tag or Build/Broadcast sheet? LEON.
