It wasnt a cheap tail light. It was $450 which at first glance might seem expensive. However, considering the fact that a used pair on ebay fetched (gulp) $785 a couple days ago........it seemed reasonable to me. about 12 years ago, i  had 2 of them NOS in boxes (both were for the same side) that i bought for a whopping $300. I had to sell them off during a hard financial time though.

$785 :o :o :o The $510 I paid for the pair & wires seems to be a better deal every day :icon_smile_approve:

Yep, $785  here is a link to the completed auction. what i find humorous is that they were  stated to have no cracks. The units were still on the car. I`d be willing to bet a 20 that the lenses do have cracks that are hidden by the bezels and probably a couple wasted bulb sockets to boot. I just cant see a neglected junk car sitting in the woods having mint tail lights.

I was eyeing it up Twilt, and debated several times but I think the fact that he mentioned there was a scratch or a crack? (I'd have to read it again). Good buy.

What makes me mad about '72's is you'll be hard pressed to sell a nice one for say $8000 ( at least from the ones I saw on ebay) but you can almost make that much if you part it out! when are 3rd gens going to start appreciating in price?

Hopefully not until I'm done collecting

The flaws in the unit are a small scratch on the lense in the outer "grater" and minor wear to the black paint on the bezel. I am pretty sure that the scratch can be polished out so that it wont be noticable. The unit had been on ebay several times with a first bid of $650. At that point i was tempted but didn`t have the $650. As good luck would have it, the seller dropped the price to $450 at a time i did have some spending money.

I believe that they have been appreciating fairly well over the last couple years. You`d be hard pressed to find another 72 Rallye at close to the same price that you paid for your wifes car.

;)Very nice dude. I looked at your post ((  Another part rounded up for my 72 Rallye project ) and it reminded me of the hemi orange 72 charger  rallye sport I saw in a back yard near my home. I stops and had a look at it. It has a 150 tack, bucket seats with a auto shift with an emblem that says SLAP STICK. Everything is there. In the front seat passenger side theres a set of flip head lights with R/T on them I think. I know I saw R/T there somewhere. He wants $2500.00 for the car and a second car to go with it for parts. The guy there told me he purchased the car in the early 80's from the US. Its been siting there for 15 years. He said he drove it there and it hasn't move since. I should get some pic . I will go back and see if the parts car has the other rear light your looking for. ;D
