Dealer installed Daytona wing on standard 69 Charger?

Just saw a for sale add posted in the world of Facebook.  Seller claims the wing was installed at the dealership when new...  Was wondering if this was ever an actual offer?  Or is this just another outlandish claim in the world of Mopar?

Seller is saying it is an OEM wing.   He does not claim the factory installed it.

There was a flame war in the comments from the old add where he stated it was a dealer installed option from new.  

Didn't get a chance to copy it before the pissing contest resulted in that's group admins deleting the convo.

A dealer could have installed it, but without paperwork there's no sense in arguing, that's for sure.

 true  dealer could of   ..but un less there is documentation saying  X dealer fitted Y wing to Z charger vin , it will always be a tall story !!   just out of curiosity , does the ad , list a vin ?  only from the pictures  , it looks like / got a couple of things that make it look like ,  its a early build 69 ... some time late 68 . I do not think Daytona parts would of  been available then  , from the dealer parts department  , in late 68 ......

I wouldn't trust that add at all. Especially if there's no documentation to validate the story. I've never heard of a standard 69 charger with a Daytona wing sold installed from the dealer.

I'd say to take it to pawn stars and see what they would say

i heard the opposite that dealers were removing the wing because they couldn't sell the Daytona cars

It looks like after the flame war from his first original post he decided to change the description just to say factory wing. Dropping the dealership installed comment. He probably thought the mopar crowd would be stupid enough to fall for it but it backfired. I got a Question. Wouldn't a big motor like 440 dropped into a 68 GSS Dart by Mr Norms Grand Spaulding dealership be the same as just a dealership option & not factory?  LEON.

Even if the wing was "dealer installed", with so called "paperwork", how does this make the car anymore special?....who cares, really?

Yeah just a dealership doing their stuff with the cars. Not factory....but desirable because of cool and the history factor.

Exactly correct.    Why do folks make claims without the proper documentation to back it up?

We had a local that had a wing installed on his brand new 69 Roadrunner by petty Enterprise..has been on the car since day one although not factory it's still cool.

This is a car that we bought from original owner, with paper work, but we didn't care at the time, built it into a Daytona and used the wing to start and feed other Daytona builds. They came with just the big wing washers (not welded, only held on by wing bolts) and did not have wing trunk bracing.

$35,000 regardless of the wing is a good price not over priced at all. I got over that for an incomplete restoration on a 68 charger, engine bay not finished just new paint and interior

That nose reminds me of the red #71 low speed mule Daytona.  Not long enough but a striking resemblance!

It is 18", but I see your point. Back in the day of my shady tree Daytona builds Sheet metal, glass and a lot of bondo Those where the days... $500.00 car, a wrecking yard near by, and some Dupont $50.00 paint and a fun ride...
