Dash frame question

So, I pulled a dash frame out of storage today with thoughts of listing it for sale.  It's got a lot of surface rust and some minor pitting, but I'm confident I can make it like new again.  My son and I got into a discussion about if 68 and 69 are the same or not.   I think they are, he thinks there is a difference.  I don't remember.  Old age and being away from this stuff or 8 years has me doubting myself.  This is a charger rally dash frame.  68 or 69.

I know 70 is different, just don't know of any differences between 68 and 69

68 has a smaller hole for the ignition switch. And the way the fuse block mounts is different
68 Charger R/t white with black v/t and red tailstripe. 440 4 speed ,black interior
68 383 auto with a/c and power windows. Now 440 4 speed jj1 gold black interior .
My Charger is a hybrid car, it burns gas and rubber............

The only difference is the ignition hole. It's smaller in a 68 frame.

Edit: CB beat me to it.

1969 Charger 383/auto
1969 Charger R/T 440/auto (waiting to be restored)
1972 Chevelle SS clone 383 sbc
1959 Chevy Apache short bed stepside
1968 Charger (glorified parts car)
Yes, I know I have too many cars. My wife reminds me daily.

Where do you mount the fuse box on the 68, instead of having it dangle in the breeze?

NOWIFE

It's a non a/c dash.
As deep as I was into these cars for so many years, you would think I could visibly recall the size of the ignition hole, but noooooooooo.  I guess I'm getting old.   Pretty sure it's from a 69 I parted out back in 97 or 98.  Or it could be from the 68 /6 charger I parted out around the same time.  UGH

There is a stantion welded to the inside of the dash frame that supports the fuse box with one screw.  If I remember correctly, it was a phillips head, kinda big head on it, that would pass through the stantion and go into the fuse box itself.   It's installed at about a 40d angle.   On the dash frame I have, it's over towards the left side of the glove box opening as viewed from the front, like you are sitting in the passenger seat.  The glove box liner/insert covers it, but has a cheesy pressboard flap to allow access.  In my non a/c chargers, I would often leave the fuse box loose from the mount for easier access.  My old junk and lack of mechanical experience found me replacing a lot of fuses.  :icon_smile_blackeye:

Got it, then mine is a 69 dash.  It will be my little project for the week.

I wish they kept the 68 design for the fuse box mount. Much easier to stick your head under the dash then to get to the fuse through the glove box cardboard flap.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

No kidding. I've considered making a glovebox out of multi piece plastic because the cardboard stuff is so flimsy.
