Converting A/C to Non A/C Dash vs. Converting Non 3 Speaker into 3 Speaker?

So I have a non-a/c car and I want to add a 3 speaker dash.  I was excited to find a 3 speaker dash and rushed to purchase it, only to now realize that it is for an a/c car. :brickwall: So...unless someone has a non-a/c 3 speaker dash and wants to trade for an a/c one...

What is easier, to convert a non 3 speaker dash into a 3 speaker one or an a/c dash into a non/ac/ dash?  What all involved with each conversion?

Never tried but I think the regular dash covers will just go over the AC holes and hide them

The center piece yes. The vent holes on the sides...no.

Troy

Aren't there just covers on the end any way?

I'll have to go compare mine now...

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

the holes in a AC dash  at either end for the vents , are a  wider hole , than the lower none AC  dash corner bezels can cover ,  may be  3/8" too wide , with out measuring  :icon_smile_blackeye: ,  having converted mine to a standard heaterbox set up , been thinking  , how to over come this problem my self , with out adding/ welding  metal to the dash frame , have one idea , but wont attempt it , till I get a good used centre  pad

The rally dash covers are narrower than the vent hole slots. They are not delete plates. The other B body dash ones may be though. They are very different.

Otherwise I would just stick vents in the ends and call it good. Only an aficionado would know better.

Dino

It would be very easy to weld the side vents shut. Wouldn't take much at all. Then drill holes to screw the non a/c covers in place.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

that's good to hear, I guess I will have to wait till I get them side by side and see what all the differences are.

I disagree.  I believe it would be easier to add the dash speakers to the original non-AC dash.  Just get a hole/jig saw and have at it.

The AC metal frame is completely different than the Non-AC dash...the vents at the ends are too large holes to have the non-Ac covers cover them up.....  :Twocents:
