You guys are hard core. That's the kinda work I wish I could do. Ours will need work so at least I know I'm in the right place. Great story, but it might restore my faith in humanity.

Clean it up, get it running, get it road worthy and drive it before it goes into a full resto. Your friend will be happy that he did.

Well, not exactly.. Bruce, the owner, who initially called me, thought the $9000 offer from a friend of a neighbor was too low. I confirmed it was... My friend offered him $5000 more than what the owner was hoping to get ( which is higher than $9000 ). But, I'm here to tell you, EVERYONE is happy in this deal..... It is sad I wasn't in a place to buy it, for these sorts of things happen rarely.. But, I am pleased my good friend bought it and I'll get to help him get this one going again, I love working on 2nd generation Chargers.. There are no immediate plans to tear it down. Hopefully we can get the motor to turn over and run ( replace the freeze plugs of course that caused the car to be parked ).
Funny thing about it... I didn't find it.... IT found me....  :icon_smile_big:

Great story Troy. you mentioned your friend Dave might chime in, is he a member. will we get to see this car again. id like to see it detailed, but realize the motor needs attention. please ask your friend to start a thread here. id like to shake his hand for doing the honorable thing.

I like the idea of cleaning it up and showing it as a time capsule. Pretty neat to see them that way. My F3 car is like that, although she really needs some serious rear window work. I think within the next 5 years she'll get a resto.

He doesn't do the discussion group thing a lot.... I'll mention it to him.. I'll keep things going though... Needless to say, he couldn't keep his hands off it once it got home... It buffed out rather nicely.....

Fantastic story Troy, and what a good guy to offer the seller more  :2thumbs: The car is a real diamond.
"An aggressive exterior with power to match was enough to pull in the performance boys-especially when abetted by a pair of pipes blaring out the back, and brawny red-sidewall rubber hitting the pavement."

"........the four speed box changes cogs with the precision of a sharp axe striking soft pine."

Great story, thanks for sharing it with us!  If that was a '70, color wise it would be the twin to mine.

Best of luck on the engine. The trans fluid will be mighty ripe, too.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

fc7_plumcrazy

it looks great.

What is the size of the Polyglas tires in the back?
I can't read it
