If you get a laptop able to get either PCMCIA and Express cards... which one will you use to use the Firewire 800 ( IEEE 1394b port ) ?

Express card ?

Or PCMCIA?

I'm not sure which one would be more efficient for Firewire 800 data transfer ( If both work, of course ). I think Express card is more efficient/faster ? true ?

well just read a bit about them... it seems the express card being way faster due is a direct conection with Motherboard, while PCMCIA goes through a controller, which limits the bandwidth.

shame, since I loved the dual firewire 800 disposition on the PCMCIA.

And the only express card I have found on the web with dual 800 and single 400 is priced at US$290... crazy?

thanks, but that's USB and firewire 400... wishing dual 800 and single 400 feature like the Lindy I posted

I can get a dual firewire 800 though, they are on ebay on $50-80 rate. If I sell the PCMCIA cards I have, could maybe get one dual firewire 800 and work with both express cards ( that one and the 400/800 Dynex I got ) if needed some day work with combined port, but way better get simply a single card.

I could also despite the 400/800 I got and work with just one dual 800 and a 400/800 wire if needed.
